So sad

So sad

So after months going back and forth to the vet and big ups and downs, I think today is the day we have to put my Katie to sleep. She had another pred shot last week and it only helped her a little. She seems to be getting a little better, but she's still very sick, and last week the doctor felt what might be a tumor. It doesn't make sense to put a 14 y/o cat through all this. It's just hard because she's still so affectionate and loving, and despite being so sick she seems happy nad purrs when I pet her. Also she was bron in my garage. I've had her since I was 9 years old. I named her after a favorite children's book 'Katie the Kitten' We just put her sister emily to sleep a few months ago. I am so sad. I found a pic of me when I was 9 holding up katie and emily in my arms when they were little babies, the first day we could hold them.

Do you think kitties go to heaven?

Re: So sad

There is a bridge connecting Heaven andEarth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth.
So, each day they run and play until the day comes when, one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace,
Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated...

Re: So sad

Thanks so much ladies for all the support. i love that poem. I just lost 2 kitties a few months ago. I have an update actually. I had brought her thursday 90% sure we'd be putting her to sleep. But the vet asked a lot fo qustions and she said it seemed like the pred was helping marginally, so she said it can't hurt to try one more shot, to see if it helps and if not then we could put her to sleep after that. Well the 2nd pred shot seems to be helping katie a lot. She's eating a lot and so far no problems. I don't know if she's going to gain her weight back, but she's eating a lot of boiled chicken and I'm always running to the store for it. So she seems to be doing well. I don't know how long it will last, or how much my bankbook can handle it, but I'm really happy. She seems to be getting even more responsive and alert, and she jumped up on my bed today fr the first timein weeks.

I don't want to sound cruel and selfish, but the vet said that despite her problems she really doens't seemto be miserable miserable because she is so responsive and she purred the whoole time at the vet's office, etc. So we'll see. When it comes a time when she is suffering or the meds don't work I will put her to sleep, I don't know how much longer she had, and I don't want to make her suffer, but I'm glad she has some time left. Oh what we thought may have beena tumor did not change in size, which means it's most likely an intestinal thing, which CAn cause a problem at some point, but isn't life threatening. So we'll see.

She was so sick and I really thought that was it, but she seems to be doing very well. She seems pretty comfortable and happy

I can't thank you enough for all of the support. This has been pretty traumatic for me. I've had katie since I was 9!
