So Sad... OT and long

So Sad... OT and long

The night that my FH and I got engaged we walked outside of our building and there was this cat there crying and begging for food. He was very friendly and the people around us said that they had seen him around. He was obviously someones pet (he was neutered and his nails were trimmed) so we took him in with the intention of finding his owner(s). We even took him to the vet and got the full workup done.

Unfortunately, after posting notices and asking around no one has come forward. I have some pretty major health problems that put me in the emergency room no less than a dozen times when I was 11 and had a cat. I am very allergic and my allergies, severe asthma and juvenile diabetes are working against me right now. In addition to getting sick again my parents and aunt have FLIPPED OUT on me and my FH when they found out that we had taken him in because of my health.

I know it was stupid but I couldn't just leave him on the street. Now we are attached to him and can't just give him to a shelter... and at the same time I am starting to get sick again...

FH says that he has to go

There are 'no-kill' animal shelters you could give him too. I know it will be hard to give him up but at least you know he won't be put down.

Isn't there a B2B whose FI is a vet? Perhaps he can recommend a placec to bring him or know of a loving family to adopt him.

I totally understand. I have a cat thats 10 years old and I cant find a home for her. my FI is VERY allergic and I have her as an outside cat now. the shelters are all full! I hate the thought of taking her to the pound. I wish I could help us both!

I would definately call ARF.. animal rescue fund.. they are a very good shelter, and they will keep the cat until someone adopts it.. Good luck

He is not a kitten. He's between 3-4 years old and many people don't want adult cats. Even before the cat I have been taking medication for my allergies and asthma. I have some pretty severe health problems so it wasn't too smart to take this cat in. I just didn't think that I could sleep at night leaving him on the street...

I love animals and when I moved in with my FH a few months ago I had to leave my dogs (toy poodles) at home with my parents because he owns an apartment in a building that doesn't allow dogs. They are in the only home that they have ever known and with people that love them, but I miss them something awful. Especially living in Staten Island and my parents being on LI.

This is the cat. We named him Johnny. Johnny Doe.
