My wedding is in 5 days and no-one has bothered to plan any bachelorette party or shower. True I said I didn't want a TYPICAL shower with gifts and stuff, but jeez at least make me feel a little special and take me to lunch or something. My 'MOH' dropped the ball big time, when she suggested I contact everyone to make plans for my bachelorette party. I refused and gave her all the contacts, but nothing. Why have I been crazy trying to find these people the perfect gifts????? Why are they getting gifts at all???? A little initiative people, take it!

Re: So should I be offended?
I totally know how you feel. My mom lives in Arkansas (ya, it's nuts!). I've never been really close to her or anything, but it's hard now b/c I feel like I'm bothering people if I ask someone to come with me somewhere.
This past weekend my FSIL was supposed to come with me to register, we had it planned for 2 weeks, then the night before she tells me she has a bachlorette party that night and is getting her hair done at 12n. She said she'll be able to come, but will have her 9 month old daughter with her.
I was so upset, I felt like she was fitting me in. I just told her we'd do it another weekend and I did most of it on-line. My FH knew I was upset so he went back to Fortunoffs with me the next day, to make sure I was ok with everything I put on there.
I'm a sensititive person, but this really hurt me. She constantly tells me how she wants to do things with me and knows my mom isn't around.
She has no idea how upset I was.
Good Luck to you!

Re: So should I be offended?
First,
Someone should have 'stepped up to the plate'.
There is no excuse.
I would be offended. My mom died when I was eight, Dad is handicapped from a stroke, I have no sisters. My MOH lives in MA with a demanding job and an infant, my FSIL's live out of state and have kids and my MFIL is 70, and I only have a MOH no other bridesmaids but I am still having a shower.
It isn't easy for my MOH and FMIL to plan it by themselves with no toher bridal party members helping. Oh and FH was married once and FMIL really didn't have to. And yes, it's a surprise.
I'm sure my shower and bachelorette party will be small and simple. I wanted it that way.
I'm sorry.

I would be hurt but also I would be PISSED!!! I mean it's fine if they weren't going to do a typical shower but someone should've done Something??? It's true that there are 5 days left I'll hope for the best that someone steps up!!!

Re: So should I be offended?
Wow, I would be very upset, not so much for the bachelorette party, but no shower?? I didn't have a typical bachelorette party either - me and some friends went out to dinner, which was enough for me.

Re: So should I be offended?
Im so sorry! I have the same issue. My mom and sister(MOH)live in Fla. I dont speak to my inlaws anymore and even if we did, she didnt even bother to through me a babyshower and had the nerve to tell me that she told her sister in law not to do it. My bestfriend doesnt like any of my other friends and I feel like I'll probably wind up with nothing . I dont know why people can be so thoughtless but maybe it'll turn out well. 5 days isnt alot but maybe that's the best way to surprise you.

Re: So should I be offended?
I think I definetely would be more hurt than offended....I think your MOH or bridesmaids should have planned something for you. You asked them to be a big part of your day and they should have realized they had important roles to play......
I am so sorry......

Re: So should I be offended?
I feel for you and I would have been going through the same situation if I did'nt take matters into my own hands.
I am booking the limo for my baclorette party I told them where I wanted to go and wanted to do and they better just give me the money to pay for the limo and the tickets for the male revue show we are going to see and like it!
Seriously they should of atleast asked what you wanted to do and all of you could have worked togather towards something at least a shower thats just not right.

Re: So should I be offended?
Thanks girls. I just feel like I'm the kind of person who goes the extra mile for everyone else and this is what I get
I addressed it with my family and they said oh we'll make up for it with giving you a great baby shower when the time comes

That's not right at all. Maybe you could suggest going out to lunch or dinner, 'being that you have no other plans'......

Ouch, that is terrible, I'm so sorry! I would be offended if I were in your shoes. And you being so thoughtful just makes it worse. At least you have your WEDDING to look forward to this week! Yay!

I am really sorry!!!!! Maybe you can talk to one of your bridemaids who can pick up the ball and organize at least a mini batchelorette for you? at least you can get together with the girls and have a tea party or something.
