The invite clearly read: 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' How many does that equal? 2....right? Good because when I opened the RSVP and saw 3, I thought I must've added wrong. FH's cousin decided they would invite their 3 year old child and include them on the RSVP. Is it my fault for not stating that there are no little kids allowed? Should I be pi$$ed about this? Do I allow them to bring the child? At this point, it is the principle and I know I should choose my battles because FH's relationship could be damaged if he puts his foot down. Not that I even know if his cousin is like that, but still. What to do? Anyone else have similar experiences??

Yes. You need to call and let them know. I had a cousin do the same thing. You allow one, it won't end there....

You guys are getting my fuel PUMPING! I am really pi$$ed that they took it upon themselves to add their kid in there. We love kids....don't get me wrong.....but come on! I would never have the ball$ to just throw an extra name on there....kid or not. If I saw my kid wasn't invited (and to a wedding I wouldn't expect them to be), I would simply reply with my and my husbands name. Period. They're from Rhode Island too. Why would you want to SCHLEP your kid all the way here? Am I being ridiculous?

NO NOT AT ALL. you just have to realize that most people are GIANT dumbasses. Nip this in the bud now b/c if you let them come with the kid, other people will invite theirs

And I bet if we do allow it, someone else will be pi$$ed because 'if they brought their kid, why couldn't I bring mine?' Another thing is, this cousin has a sister with a little one too. Is she going to add her child too?? I cant. Really.

I think it depends on the relationship with the cousin. If a phone call letting them know that no kids are allowed won't start a family feud, then go for it, however, a wedding is one day, relationships with family members are a life time. Pick your battles. However, they should have enough common sense to see that Mr. and Mrs. means Mr. and Mrs, not Mr. and Mrs & Family.
Good luck. When it comes to weddings, people really are clueless.

I agree. I don't think there will be any love loss if FH steps up to the plate over this. But I doubt FH will actually step up. f he decides not to, I will go along with it but he WILL KNOW how annoyed I am.

u should def do something bout it..is not fair for them to bring their kid and for other ppl not to..plus wedding there is a reason y u wrote on the rsvp Mr n Mrs. n they should respect that... also, allowing them to bring their kid will give a wrong signal to others to bring their kids too ..

Re: So today I get....
I know how you feel, one of FH's uncles was invited with his 19 year old daughter, neither of them were invited with a guest because neither of them is in a serious relationship. He emailes FH even before he got the invite and said, 'I am assuming you invited me with a guest, but instead of me bringing someone my daughter will be bringing a friend of hers so she has some one to talk to at the wedding. And don't worry you won't have to pay for her, she won't eat anything.' His first mistake was assuming he was invited with a guest, and if his brat of a daughter can't socialize with her own family for 5 hours of her life then maybe she shouldn't bother coming. FH responded by saying that unfortunately we didn't invite either of them with a guest because we are trying to keep things small and intimate, just close friends and family. And that there were even friends and co-workers that we could have invited before inviting random strangers but we had to draw the line somewhere. Believe me, FH was alot nicer about it than I would have been, lol. This was at least 3 weeks ago and his uncle still hasn't responded to the email or sent the RSVP back. So I gues we will just have to wait and see!

Re: So today I get....
I have been fearing this with a few people since we sent out the invites. I thought I should have added Adult Reception on the reception card. So far it hasn't happened (KNOCK ON WOOD!) and if it does, we will just have to say, it's no children, period. If that changes their RSVP status we'll just say we're sorry you can't make it. You just have to leave it at that. Your FH's cousin might not have realized, so just call them to say it's no kids. Don't even mention the FG or RB just tell them you're so glad they're able to make it but it's no kids.
