My cat is 16 years old and ive had him since he was a kitten. For the last 6 nights he has woken me up crying at my door to get out. He doesnt leave my master bedroom (large enough for him!) becuz my sister and her friends are allergic. Anyway, s icouldnt let him out. I got him to calm down the last few nights, but my mom thinks it might be his way of wanting to find a place to die. Im devastated. I am taking him to the vet in a half hour. wish me luck.
thanks for listening
Update: So i called the vet. and let me say i HATE this other doctor!!!!!!!!! My cats vet (dr gross) is wonderful.....today he is out. So Dr. Lopez is in and supposed to be the one to call me, well that didnt happen!! I called back at 2:00 and the receptionist asks him to talk to me, which he says he is too busy to do! So the receptionist tells me that Dr. Lopez said the blood work looks ok.
Looks ok?!!!!?!!?! What the hell does that mean? I mean think about it, yes you can look at it in a good way (at least try) by saying- it looks ok so maybe hes not that sick.....but Dr. Gross told me yesterday that Boots is DEFINITLY sick. ......so if he is definitly sick, how is everything ok? am i crazy?
ok the good thing is that it makes me think it cant be cancer.
So Dr. Lopez asks the receptionist to have me call back monday to Dr. Gross for the results. NO CHANCE. they must be crazy!! Boots has been crying all night for a week, been acting different, barely eating and they want me to wait til monday to talk to them?! yes im venting but im furious!! its like my baby and ur telling me hes sick but wait to find out whats wrong
ok so my response to this was thats not the way its going to go. I was promised by Dr. Gross that i will get the results today, thus i told the receptionist to make sure i get the results today by phone by the dr, or i will stop by on my way home from work for the results............i am not waiting for my cat to suffer, they are crazy if they think i will.
Thats my vent, im furious.

Re: So unhappy :(
So we went to the vet, and they did blood work. THey told me to call bck in the morning for results. It could be one of many things, thyroid disease, diabetes, Kidney failure, cancer or a mass. The dr said hes defnitly sick, but they dont know what yet. So tomorrow ill find out if i have to put him to sleep, or if he will be ok. keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: So unhappy :(
I am soo sorry about your kitty. Do you think that he is crying in pain or was just crying to get your attention to let him out of the room? Did the doc say he thought he was in pain?
I only ask this because I had a kitty for over 15 years. I knew the end was coming and I knew there was something wrong but she didn't seem like she was in pain at all so I never took her to the vet. The day before she passed away she didn't look right but she wasn't crying in pain. The next day my sister was with her all day and she was not acting like herself. She told me to come to the house when I got out of work and within an hour of me being there she passed away in my arms. I know its sad but I knew that if I took her to the vet they would tell me that I would have to put her to sleep and I couldn't bare the thought of that.
The reason I am sharing this story with you is because if you think he is not in pain then my suggestion would be to let him come home with you and he will go peacefully where he is most comfortable and you won't have to agonize with the thought of putting him to sleep.

I don't know, I kind of agree with this. We knew it deep down with Angel...and we just couldn't bring him back to the vet for them to put him down, and even though every single day I'm still crying from that horrible vision that we saw that night, if I didn't have that horrible memory I think it would be even worse.
I am so so so sorry Elyse. I hope that your baby will be ok, and that he is able to be with his family

Sorry to hear your cat is sick. Maybe the vets will find something that is treatable...
