ok so im sitting here in semi tears. my FMIL makes me feel like our wedding is just so stupid. She has seven kids and my FH is the 6th to be married so I think she feels like shes an expert on everything wedding related, and everything that we want to do that is not the 'norm' she demeans. My FH has a godson who is 11 and is too old to be a ring bearer, so we came up with the idea that he could walk my mom down the aisle b/c i of course will be walking down with my dad. she basically rolled her eyes and told us its going to look ridiculous. PLEASE HELP

thats bull!!! don't even take it into consideration. What matters is that the choices you make are from the heart. if you want him to be involved in the wedding then I see no problem with him walking your mom down the aisle.

My parents are divorced...then my mom dated a woman for 17 years and then they broke up too...

I really want my dad to walk me down the aisle but I want to acknowledge me moms ex gf as a parental figure too...so I am going to have my dad walk me down the aisle, my mom walk down the aisle with my half brother and my moms ex gf and my dads gf walk down the aisle together. they are all friends so it works out...and I don't care who thinks what...these are people who are inportant in my life and they deserve that honor.

she'll feel silly when she sees just how wonderful your wedding comes out even with all her old fashioned judgements on wedding plans

We need a girls night.

Don't listen to her---if I am learning one thing from this whole experience it is do what makes you happy---This is the one day to focus on you and FH---do what makes you happy, not what pleases everyone.
Or do what I did---take her suggestions (like on the invitation, she wanted me to change the wording) and when I get them back and it is not changed---oops---I told the invitation people, but I guess they forgot

I think its fine helene, my brother is going to walk my mom down and the aisle and then circle back for you. You dont have a brother, but i think its a really nice gesture including gavins godson and its fine. Your FMIL needs to pipe down.
