So upset about church

So upset about church

I dont know what to do. I met with the priest for the final time the other night and he started asking me about my dress. If it was strapless, how high up it was, if it was appropriate- bottom line- he does not like that i have a sweetheart neckline and says if its inappropriate for church i need to cover up!! How do i do this? I dont think i look inappropriate in my dress at all. I know i will not be offending anyone. Everyone is telling me it will be fine and not to worry but i dont want to disrespect the church or the priest. What are your thoughts?

That was an issue with my church......but I told my Pastor that the veil is my covering.

Aww i'm sorry hun. It is true tho, the church is pretty strict about cleavage and shoulders showing. I have straps on my dress but I still think i'm getting a little shrug to look a little more modest, shawls for my girls too. It's not so bad.

Someone I used to work with told me about how his cousin had a revealing dress and the priest made the groom take off his coat to cover the front of the bride's dress! What church are you getting married in? What does your dress look like?

Re: So upset about church

I haven't been asked this, well as of yet by the deacon from my church. But there are so many rules in my Church so I can just imagine they will say aomething.

my dress is a sweatheart neckline as well, and the back V's down to the mid of my back...my veil will be my cover up-i am NOT covering my dress, i love it too much. And if they say anything I will just say 'Oh I guess you don't want the 700$ DONATION huh???'

It pisses me off, I know you have to be respectful in church, but seriously I go to Church every Sunday with my parents and it is a little disgraceful to see what some people wear on a normal bases there, much worse than a sweatheart neckline of a wedding dress!! So I think you should be fine with your dress.

My FSIL has big boobs lol and she had a strapless dress and it looked fine on her and nothing was popping out or anything

But Good Luck!

to be honest with you, i broke a lot of rules at the church. my dress was a sweet heart too and the day of no one said anything to me. the priest is not going to make your groom cover you up with his tux.

i also had the flower girls throw flowers which was not allowed, still no one said anything.

just do what you want! you may have to apologies later, but trust me, the day of no one will say a word to you

good luck!

ok i recently got married in a church on 3/29/08 and had the same conversation with my priest.

i just looked at your dress and i think you will be fine, they want to make sure that your not hanging out and they do not want to see any kind of boobs, but from the pictures doesnt look like you hang out at all , so i think you'll be fine
