So upset! Kind of long sorry....(updated)

I can't believe this happened.....My brother is going through a rough divorce, my niece was suppose to be my FG. My brother's future ex-wife has not let him see my wonderful niece in a long time...now my brother calls me and tells me his soon to be ex-wife will not let her be in my wedding, she decides this now with my wedding 2 months away! What am I suppose to do her dress has already been ordered and has come in!! I am so upset because she is so important to me and i want her there. We are still waiting with our fingers crossed in the hopes that her mother will reconsider her decision.

So I asked another one of my little cousins, do any of you girls know where I could buy a FG dress off the rack, that won't cost a ton of money??

** Girls I talked to my brother today he has a preliminary hearing to set up visitation on May 18, please pray that he gets visitation on the weekends!!**

First of all I'm very very sorry about what you, your brother and your neice is going though. Divorse is never easy and it hurts everyone involved, espeically the children. In all honest his ex wife should want her daughter to be there, so she can receive support from your family. But unfortunely shes is being selfish.
You might be able to get some left over easter dresses at Macy's, Sear's, JC Pennys, etc... If not you can try a bridal shop and see if they have something nice. Also you might be able to get first communtion dresses onsale or even ebay too! Good luck and I hope everything works out with your family.

So sorry to hear this! You can definitely try any department store for dresses. Since it's spring and communion, they have really pretty formal dresses. Also try Burlington Coat Factory. I was in there a few weeks ago and noticed that they had so many beautiful dresses for little girls. If that doesn't work , you should try David's Bridal.

I'm SO sorry to hear this! it's a shame that sometimes adults take things out on children. your neice's mother dones't know how horrible she's beign to this child and to you, her aunt and her father!!! it's rude & inconsiderate taht she would do this 2 months before the wedding.

if she cannot be in it, i suggest looking for an off the rack dress at macys or even local smaller dress shops that may have some dresses on clearance or sales. best of luck to you!!

You know, I detest my ex I really do, but when I was informed that my little girl was her uncle's flower girl, I actually was happy. I was even more happy that I was not expected to cover the expenses, but I found myself treated with such respect by her family members that I was glad I hadn't second guessed it for a second. I was invited to the wedding and the RD!!! I was shocked really b/c we had quite a mess ourselves, but I would never prevent her from being with her 'other' family for a joyous occasion.

I am truly sorry this is happening. Often in divorce children are used as pawns for manipulation. It's wrong, it's disgusting and it's unfair. I hope she sees how wrong this is and that like it or not, she (the little girl) will always have her daddy and his family as a part of who she is, I also hope this happens in time for your wedding. I recommend trying to find leftover easter dresses as well..also maybe ebay.

I agree with the others. You can find dresses off the rack in many stores. I'd go soon. There could still be many Easter dresses on sale. My flower girl dress came from JCPenney, so it's possible.

I am so sorry you are going through this, I know how you feel! My brother is going through a divorce right now, sometimes its ok, other times its very nasty. My nephew was supposed to be RB in my cousins wedding next month and I had to tell her that he cant be in the wedding for the simple fact that my soon to be ex SIL can be very hot and cold from day to day and we didnt want her relying on the fact that he will be there bc the day before, she may not let him even go at all.
Although I dont have any recommendations about the dress, I just wanted to give you a little hug and let you know that I know the drama you must be going through

that is so sad, your entire family must be so upset! - i got my fg dresses from barrons in the flea market - they have a huge selection of white fg dresses and their prices are great. we even had to order on ein another size and it only took a week to come in!!

You can check JCPenney online. They have a lot of Communion dresses that look like FG dresses. Also, check David's Bridal. They sometimes have dresses in stock that they can ship from other locations. Good luck!!
