so upset... (long)

and mad!

FH had a huge fight with his parents a week and a half ago... they said some not-so-nice things about me (and him) that weren't really true, and it basically caused FH and i to decide to get an apartment after the wedding instead of staying at their house and saving $ like we wanted to.

so i told FH that i can't be around his parents and i want nothing to do with them right now, and he said he understood because i take longer to get over things and he can just brush them off. i explained to him that if he just brushed things off and didn't explain to them how they hurt us, then nothing will be resolved and i really won't be able to get over it (we both agree it's not my place to say anything because i wasn't invovled in the first place). so he says he understands and he is sorry and he will talk to them.

great! so last night he goes upstairs into their part of the house... and he is there for an hour and a half... and when he comes back into our apartment i asked him what happened and he said that they 'just bullsh*tted.' WHAT?!?!? i told him he promised to talk to them about what they said...

and he said that he didn't want to start something new!!

well, HELLO!! that's brushing things off - like we BOTH AGREED was a bad idea.

i am sooo mad and upset right now... it's like he's chosen appeasing them over caring about my feelings.

am i crazy? or am i overreacting?

First of all, lots of
I don't think you are overreacting at all. I would be upset too. Maybe you can talk to him again and tell him that it really hurt you when he didn't do what he promised. I hope everything works out.

my FH is the same way...he is really good at just 'getting over' things and I am the complete opposite. On one hand I understand not wanting to cause trouble and sometimes you just have to ignore things, but ont he other hand, I agree with you that nothing gets resolved. FH is the same even when we get into an argument or something...he is over it within 5 minutes and does't understand that just 'forgetting' about it doesn't make it better and we'll end up arguing about the same thing over and over.
Maybe its a guy thing, but I don't think you are over reacting, I'd be upset too.

I would be upset with FH too if he did that to me. Have a talk with him again.

I'm sorry. You are not over reacting at all. I would feel the same way. Seems like in his family they say stuff they don't mean when they are mad and then just forget about it. If that is the case, FH should not repeat to you what is said in the heat of an argument with his parents, since you are not like that. I hope things work out. It would be nice if FH told his parents how hurt you were. They might not even know you know what was said.
