Ladies, i know I'm probably being super annoying with all these canceling posts, but my friend just got our STD, and it looks like it was hand cancelled AND machine cancelled. What do you think?
At this point, I don't really care either way, I'm just genuinely curious.
well the round thing ontop of the stamp is hand cancel!
ETA: just looked again - yeah its both....wth is the point of that?

From what I heard, there's nothing you can do it about it. Even when it's hand canceled it's still going to go through machines. And there's no guarantee that they actually do the hand canceling. Boo on the post office!

That's what I heard - that even when you hand cancel, they wind up going through another machine anyway. Such a PITA.

yeah they do do this a lot of the time... we dropped off our wedding invites at the post office and the same thing happened but they arrived looking great and not messed up at all. unless your STD/invitation is extremely bulky (mine were very thick and were still fine) you shouldn't have a problem. for the invites I didn't even bother getting them hand cancelled and it was no problem at all.

even if you hand cancel them there is a good chance they will still go through the machines.

Then why in the hell are we wasting our time making sure they get freaking Hand-cancelled?!
