so... we met with inthemix and golden moments photog

so FH and I drove from bay shore to mineola last night to meet with the DJ.... I tried asking FH what our budget is... but he doesn't know. It was our first meeting with a DJ so we didn't know what to expect.
I was asked to fill out a form and I leaned over to ask FH some of his answers... he's reply 'I don't know' to EVERYTHING... so I got so mad at him I stabbed him with a pen. ( )
yea.. bad choice- we ended up QUIETLY yelling at each other... which made it hard to 'play nice' with the DJ.
Well the sales guy (don't remember his name- dave I think) he was nice... talked a little too fast and pushed a little too much...
but over all wasn't that bad.
their cappuccino is delicious btw!

anyway... he shows us their 'menu' yea well... it ended up being double what FH thought it would be... yes that was with extras... but honestly without those extras... we'd be paying for a sound system not an entertainer.

they never showed us video or anything of what they can do, they just showed us... lights

needless to say, we'll continue shopping around

now the photographer.
he was nice, he was down to earth, he didn't PUSH!
we watched a quick video of his and I was hooked! I LOVE his videography... his photography however... not so great. to me... (knowing A LOT of photographers) his work seemed a little... boring. but I liked HIM!

so his prices were what I figured they'd be... actually a little less.... FH wasn't impressed. he agrees the video was great, but did not like his photography AT ALL!

so back to the drawing board..

FH doesn't even want a videographer so I really have to sell him on that!

Ended up booking High Energy Entertainment for DJ and Golden Moments for video

I wasnt all that impressed with In the mixx and definately was more expensive than others or the same price as others that have a great reputation and are very well known. They werent bad but just so so for me like you said.

I actually had only gone to Golden Moments for photography but ended up booking video like I said (I personally also think this is their stronger point). I liked their photography but I thought was overpriced. Their video was amazing and I totally did not want to pay that much- I was looking at halo which isnt the same quality (imo) but I woulda taken in- o well!

Omg that is what we thought about GM the video was like a major motion picture and the photo's were ok. We went with Duet bc honestly they were the only ones who worked with the price.The video isnt as great as GM but how many times will I watch my video??

I just emailed a whole bunch of DJs and videogs/photogs- pretty much EVERY ONE listed on liweddings-vendors.

Hopefully we'll find something AFFORDABLE and nice.

FH doesn't even want videog.. I do!
and with the DJ- it makes or breaks the wedding... I don't want to cheap out, but I don't want to live in debt over it!
