I'm confused... I know June and July are popular times but when do catering halls generally start lowering their prices?
I'm afraid I can't afford what I want during the summer and I am a teacher so I can't really take off.
I will thinking beg. of October b/c I will have off for Columbus day and some Jewish Holidays so I will only have to take five days off.
Heeeellllllllllppppppp meeeeeeeeeeee!

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
I know some teachers who get married around the Christmas, February and Easter breaks, this way they can go away after. Or you can try for a Friday, or sunday during the summer.

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
I have a lot of family from out of state so Dec or Feb. is no good....
April break is a good friends wedding so can't do either...
I'd rather take days off in October.
I know.... I'm a pain in the tooshie.....

I am getting married at the end of arpril and going on my honeymoon in the summer
generally May till Sept are the most expensive but it depends on the hall and Saturday nights

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
I think things get a little cheaper in the fall and winter. Generally holiday weekends are cheaper too. I have the saem issue. Obviously from my name you can tell that I don't live in NYC anymore.
I chose Thanksgiving day weekend for the some of the same reasons. FH's family will be traveling from Illinois. FSIL and my sister are both teachers and so they will have some time off too. I also chose the fall because I didn't want to pay summer prices... Isn't July 3rd on a sunday next year? That should help with the price too.
Christmas week is really busy for people but that's a great week because you have off. Even if you don't get married around Christmas you could delay your honeymoon til that week. FSIL is doing that I think.

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
One of the halls told us the at September/October has become just as popular as June. I would say high season is May thru October. But that's JMO!!!

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
october prices seem to be on the premium end, since its suppose to be nice weather still....
november to march should be the lower prices..... thats why we picked the first weekend in november.... also if your trying to scheduale vacation you could always have your wedding and delay the honeymoon

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
It actually depends on the hall. It seems the more expensive the hall, the less the season really matters. That was just my experience. I know Flowerfield told us there down season is Jan-March. We got different down times from every hall.

How about Thanksgiving weekend? That is the off-season for some places. It really depends, places like the Metropolitan in Glen Cove told me that Sept - March was their high season. Others called it their off-season. It really depends on the place.

Re: So what and when exactly is the HIGH season
October is still high season, especially early in the month, some places priecs drop after the 2nd or 3rd week. In our area, Sept and Oct. are as popular, if not more so, than May and June.
