So what do I do first????

Ok besides the obvious of enjoying the engagement, what is the first thing you all recommend I do? We decided between some dates (next July), and are pretty sure we would like to have a NYC reception. And thats where the problem starts- Ive never been to, or know anyone who has had a wedding in NYC so.... HELP!!!!

Ok first decide on where is the cermony going to be???

Then start to make appointments to see reception halls.

Next, IMO Photo/Video

Then DJ or Band

Where are you from?

I found the Wedding sites and services magazine to be so helpful..they also have awebsite, I think it's weddingsitesandservices.com.

Start looking to see what appeals to you.

if you give us an idea of how mnay people, what areas, price range, one wedding at a time or not, etc, we can maybe throw put some ideas., although most of us are getting married in long island so we know more about that.

Also look through the bride's review board, you cna look through review (with a lot of pics) to get some ideas!

I picked my hall because one saturdya people were posting pics of it, and I thought ti was so beautful so I maede an appointment to look at it right then.

What they said are great things to start with, also there is a magazine that is dedicated for NYC weddings. You may also want to check that out.

Definitely book your hall and church (or other ceremony site first). Wedding Sites and Services is awesome. As you are looking there, you can also use the search feature here to see if any LIW users have had their wedding there. (Search Brides helping Brides for opinions and The Brides Review for first hand experiences.) I know there are a couple of NYC Reviews here. I remember reading a Snuf Mill review not too long ago. Try doing search for pics of NYC halls brides have used from this site. I remember seeing beautiful pics from a hall in the city a few months ago on this site!

Wedding sites and services is a great resource - you can have mine. Or, like I said, there is a site identical to this once called NYCityWeddings.com. As much as I want you on this Board, it may help to go chat with those girls since they are all having city weddings.
