So 'What's' considered 'walking' ???

For over 4-6wks, JA has been walking holding on or 'Cruising'. For the past few (2-3?) weeks he lets go alot and stands there for about 2-3 seconds till he plops onto tushie If we hold out our arms, he lets go and comes over, and takes about 2 steps and then falls .

Not that I want to RUSH him growing, but is he 'walking' yet ??? or is 'walking' officially when they are NOT falling anymore???

I know lots of mommies judge it differently, just wanna see what the 'rule of thumb' is for the BTDT mommies...

He's growing too fast !!! His teeth refuse to come up, still just 2 !!! I LOVE IT, it still makes him a baby !

That's a tough call!

I think it depends on whether you are READY for him to be walking. If you are, well, he's walking! If not, he's still your baby who's ALMOST walking.

I know exactly what you mean about rushing him - I think we can all relate. You want them to do stuff - but then you want to keep them little too. JA will be the big boy of the house soon enough

Lukie's been doing the same exact thing, just started this week also. I dont personally consider it 'walking' but I would think it's coming very soon, once the confidence in the balance comes.

The teeth seem to be the least predictable thing. I know there are other 10 month olds on my Mommy board that have no teeth yet.

BTW, How did you break the new baby news to your family? They must be thrilled!!!!!

When people as me when Emma started walking I tell them that she took her first steps at 9 months but didnt really start walking without falling down as often when she was a week shy of her 1st birthday. I dont know what the 'actual walking' is either.

Still only 2 teeth. AWWWWWW. Keep him a baby as long as you can!

Hmmm...that's a tough one. You are right...everyone 'judges' it differently. It's like the parents who want their child to talk so badly...and they count the gibberish 'sounds' that baby makes as words...even though no other human can understand them!

I suppose some Moms would consider a couple of steps walking. Others would say, if he can make it across the room without falling, than THAT is walking!

What do YOU want it to be, Mommy?

I think we should call it 'stepping' - how is that for compromise? 'walking' is too grown up!
