What do you do about the people you have to invite (like Boss) even though you don't really want to share this important day with them....and they probably won't even enjoy themselves anyway because you have nothing remotely in common with them..., so they won't enjoy the music and/or people, atmosphere, etc...
Has anyone posted their invites at work, is that less pressure on you.

Re: so whats the rule with coworkers and bosses again
simple: I just wouldn't them!
If they ask-- 'I am on a TIGHT budget can't afford to invite everyone, I'm terribly sorry and I hope you understand.'
If they have any decency they will respect that.

I have 4 partners in my office. I invited one of the partners that is closer to my age and a hell of a lot nicer than the other 3. I wouldnt even think of asking these 3 numbnuts to my wedding. The Partner that did come had a blast. You shouldnt have to feel obligated to invite your boss.

I invited 4 of my bosses. I wanted them there though
As for coworkers, invite who you really want!

I will be inviting my boss and my surrogate uncle here at work. And maybe a few others. Since there have been some structural changes in my dept, I also be inviting some FORMER co-workers, with whom I still keep in touch.

Re: so whats the rule with coworkers and bosses again
I invited only two of my bosses and only one is coming. I did, however, invite several other coworkers, all of which are coming. I purposely left out a few coworkers (one of which started saying some pretty nasty things about me behind my back right after I got engaged). I almost felt pressured to invite another coworker who I loathed, but fortunately he quit right before I sent out the invitations. As a general rule, I'd say invite the people you are closest too, and not the ones you feel obligated to invite. You don't need to explain anything to anyone.

There is no rule to inviting co-workers and bosses...you either want them there and invite them or you don't invite them at all...it's entirely up to you and your fh.

Re: so whats the rule with coworkers and bosses again
I invited all my bosses (8 plus dates) and the co-workers that I hang out with after work (5 plus dates). I work for a small company (about 30 people) and in the beginning I was going to invite most of them, but then I started to cut down.

I think the 'rule' is : if you invite a co-worker you have to invite the boss.
