a white shirt or an ivory shirt??Gosh, this is driving us nuts...every tux place we go to , we get different info. A few places said, no way , DONt do an ivory vest with an ivory shirt, and that a 'clean' look is the ivory vest with a white shirt. Then other places said they would never do a white shirt with an ivory vest...So, what is the correct way??? Any photographers on here, know the answer??My gown is diamond white if that has anything to do with the whole ivory vs. white issue. Help!!!!!

Re: So, which is it?? Ivory vest with...........
I went to a wedding last weekend and the groom had on a black tux with a white vest (it has a textured pattern on it), white shirt and white tie. I thought it looked really sharp. My FH even liked it and said that is what he wants to wear.

Ivory with ivory - not with white - that's my opinion anyway -

I think Ivory shirts have a tendency to look dirty since you see such a small area of it. Its not like a wedding gown with tons of fabric that your eye can figure out its ivory. You expect a shirt to be white, and if the vest is a dark ivory, like champagne-ish, Id go with white shirts.

your gown is diamond white which will read as white in pictures so do white with white nice and clean
if your gown were ivory then you would/should do ivory/ivory
hope this helps

My gown is diamond white, but there is a ot of lace allover it, which is ivory, even though they call the dress diamond white...When i hold the white vest vs the ivory vest up to it, the ivory (ecru) look like it goes better. We decided on the ecru vest9ralph lauren vintage collection)...the problem is just the shirt under it....Should the shirt be white or Ivory(ecru)--Sems like everyone is still mixed....any other opinions??

DH wore ivory on top of ivory and I assure you he did not look dirty. I would not have tolerated it.

Ok, maybe this will help to see ..Here is a picture of my dress...Its diamond white, BUT the ivory really stands out in the lace. I thought we could go either way with the tux vest-- white or ivory, but every tux guy we met with said the ivory vest was the best...The only thing everyone still differs on is the color of the shirt underneath..and that is what is driving us nuts here..Wish someone could tell us if one is right or wrong..ivory vest with ivory shirt, or ivory vest with white shirt.I was actually hoping soeone else had this problem!! Something that seems so stupid, but it makes us feel like this
If you dress is diamond white FH should do a white vest to match

i used to work at a tux store for 4-5 years as a salesgirl when i was in high school/college and we always gave ivory shirts with ivory vests and white shirts with white vests b/c otherwise it would clash in photos. the only way the ivory looks dirty or anything is if the bride wears ivory and the groom wears a white shirt/vest it can make hte dress look a bit dull or dingy in comparision.
most ppl think a deep cream is an ivory but it's actually not. ivory is lighter than most ppl think.
