I have MS (diagnosed in '02) and it is undercontrol thank God, I am considering doing a donation favor to the MS charity but I don't really want to draw attention to my diagnosis in a 'poor me' type of way. Many ppl do not know about the illness, so what do you think?
Is anyone else doing a donation favor?

Im also doing a donation favor. FH actually came up with the idea and had me in tears bc it was sooooo sweet and it meant a lot to me that he put a lot of thought into this idea. My nephew has a rare illness called Angelman's disease. Not many people know what it is or have never heard of it at all. So he suggested we do a donation favor for this cause. We have to further discuss how we want to do this. I was thinking maybe write up a short and concise summary of what we donated for and put it on each table so that guests know why they won't be receiving a favor. We still have to figure out exactly how to go about doing this.

i'm looking into a good one that actually helps military familie durring deployments of their family members especially families that aren't married since the military looks at girlfriends and fiances as 'replaceable'

i feel for you i was told if i had another episode like i did they would oficially diagnose me with MS knock on wood there will be a cure found and no one will have episodes

I was looking to do a donation to breast cancer....it runs in my family and my aunt has just been diagnosed cancer free so its something very close to me and my family.
I was at a wedding a few weeks ago where the couple made a donation towards autism and they had a sugar cookie of the autism puzzle piece with the card saying they made teh donation attached on the tables. I wanted to kind of do the same thing with the pink ribbon but I'm not sure where you can order the cookies or if I have to make them myself.

I think I am going to do a donation to the Children's hospital where I work.... its a long term care facility and many of the kids have no family involvement

I think it's such a wonderful idea. It's a gift that will really help someone as opposed to something people will bring home and just add to their collection of junk.

My FH mom as MS we are doing a donation for MS and maybe some animal related chaity :) I am a vet

we are, in honor of my brother (lymphoma survivor) and FH's father (died of a heart attack). i don't think people would necessarily assume that you had it just bc you donated to that charity..

I am doing a donation to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition because my grammy died of ovarian cancer '02 . It is better than giving a favor which more than half either won't bring home or will bring it home and throw away(sorry , JMO). Although as a tangible favor I bought white organza bags from the dollar tree and I am going to fill them with teal M&M's. Also I was thinking since my Pepa was recently diagnosed with ALS I would donate there as well...But I'm not sure.

I'm donating to the American Cancer Society in honor of my FH's mother who passed away five years ago from cancer. I really wish I had the chance to know her....

We are donating to the cemetary / church where FH's Mom is buried. Since its in Ireland, we can't go and maintain the gravesite. So we're sending them money for the upkeep and maintenance.

Both my mom and my fh moms had a stroke and an aneurysm (respectively)when we were 16 years old.

I went to a wedding where they did a donation for a disease (I think it was breast cancer) because the brides mother passed away from it. So they printed this beaufitul short poem and the reason for the donation being her mom on a parchment scroll and then rolled them up and tied a ribbon around it (to match the bms color) and it was beautiful

I am doing a donation favor to P.A.W.S that is the rescuse company we got our puppy from and they are a no kill facility where they foster the animals and adopt them out this is very special to us because our life would not be the same without our Bailey and we are so thankful for the foster mother that rescued him from the H E L L that he was living in but thank god for companies like them that survive only on donations I think donation favors to ANY foundation is much better than giving out costters of whatever that people will probably never use JMHO

we also donated to the MS society. FSIL has MS and we wanted to do something special for her since she's been a huge help to us throughout the wedding planning process. We didn't want to bring attention to her so we didn't mention her name in our donation favors, I hope you can read this, the flash makes it hard to read:

We are doing it to the Melanoma Foundation. I am a 2x survivor. Everyone knows about it, but I can't see it being a 'poor me' thing....I dont think everyone will look at it like that.... I think its just more thoughtful to give the money to a cause that holds close to you....And if you don't want anyone to know, you can just tell them that there were a few you were chosing from and that happened to be the one you both decided on....
