So who knows a good rabbi?

FH and I will be getting married at our reception site, and neither one of us has been a member of a synagogue since we were 13, but we really want to be married by a rabbi. We want someone who has a sense of humor and can make the ceremony interesting, but still retain all the traditional aspects of a Jewish ceremony. And preferably one that would prefer to work for the sake of performing a mitzvah rather than oodles of cash. In other words...cheap!

me too. we have not yet found a rabbi. my fh's father is ultra conservative, he wants us to get a conservative rabbi, but some rabbis will not officiate b/c we are not having a kosher wedding. so we are still searching.

There's got to be a happy medium somewhere. Have you called the conservative temples in your area or asked your reception hall if they have any suggestions? What about a conservative temple with reform leanings (if that makes any sense)?

BTW, I grew up in Syosset (noticed that's where you're having your reception) and went to an orthodox temple, so I've got absolutely no idea where to find a rabbi that will marry me!
