so who wants to hear what the guy at the hotel said to me

so I called a bunch of hotels last night so FH and I can get this whole block thing started. We have an appt with Hampton Inn Jericho - Westbury tonight, but he really wanted to talk to the Long Island Marriott Hotel, so I call there. I get transferred to this guy who asks where I'm getting married...
v.e.r.d.i's of wesbury
'fridays?'
NO, v.e.r.d.i's.' in westbury on old country road
you know, thats a new one.. I didn't know fridays did weddings?
V.-E.-R.-D.-I's
oh, haha, I was gonna say, its a little trashy to get married at fridays... I guess this v.e.r.di's place is nicer than fridays?
:

he was so lucky that FH really wants to sleep there because I was 2 seconds away from making the guy cry.

I wanted to get prices on other hotels, we kinda don't want an inn... we want something with room service and a pool, and honestly, I'd LOVE a honeymoon suite.

but the GC hotel is far too pricey for us and our guests.. and the rosyln claremont hotel is booked.
I left a message with the hyatt in garden city but nobody's called me back.

any other suggestions? TIA!

Sorry but I think that's pretty fkn funny

Which Marriott did you look into? We blocked at the one in Uniondale and had a great experience with them. You can block up to ten rooms at a price without being financially bound to filling those rooms...11+ rooms, and you are responsible for those left unfilled.

They have a pool (indoors, but I didn't use it), room service, and a decent sports bar downstairs if you're looking to do an afterparty.

i knwo you said you didnt want an inn, but la quinta inn and suites has pretty good pricing, and their junior suites are really nice! we booked a junior suite for us, and everyone else has a regular room, but they are really nice

FH tried them last week, (according to him) they're booked.

that was uniondale... I was laughing as I was writing it out, but as I was talking to him I wanted to slap him through the phone cause he kept harping on it... like he ended the call with, 'enjoy fridays'
and he didn't say anything about us having to pay for over 10 rooms? he just said that they hold them up until a month before and if they aren't booked by sept 8th that they start releasing them to other ppl at their normal rate.

You probably got connected to someone at a call center. That's what happened when I called for info and the contract, and then after everything was signed, I worked with an event manager within the actual hotel itself.
If you go with them, MAKE SURE about the unfilled room policy (unless you need 10 or less rooms, obv). It may have changed, but you def don't want to be financially obligated for that much moolah!

yea it was def the call center because I asked if we could come in and see a room and he was telling me he was offsite, and he gave me his direct line and offered me his cell number- that was the other thing i didn't like... (that I didn't tell FH cause he woulda FLIPPED) but the guy was like 'here's my direct line.. oh and my cell if you ever just want to talk'
I was like 'no, thanks' then he said 'enjoy fridays hahaha'

I think the guy was just an idiot.

we're going to stop up there today when we look at the other place, I'll double check on that policy- thanks kris!
