So worried...

I have had my cat for 16 years. When I got married, he stayed living with my mother because he didn't get along with my DH. My mom had called last week and told me he wasn't eating much and seemed lethargic, but trips to the vet are so traumatic for him we said we would wait and see if he was OK. I went tonight to visit and he still isn't eating and just seemed out of it. He came to me, but didn't walk quickly and hadn't gone to the bathroom in days. My mom is taking him to the vet tomorrow morning, but I am so worried and wish I could go along (can't take off of work). I just really hope it is something simple, but I am so worried it is something serious. He seemed so unwell tonight and I had never seen him like that before.

My kitty is just about 15, and about a year ago, he got really sick for the first time...and it scared me to tears!
I hope the vet can help!!!

It wasn't good news. They think he has stomach cancer, and said they could operate and make a tube in his neck so we could feed him through it. My mother and I decided we did not want to put him through that at age 16. They gave him some antibiotics and medicine to make him more comfortable, and offered to put him to sleep. Since he hasn't eaten in over a week now, I don't think he has much left in him, but we are letting him end his life at home, as comfortable as he can be at this point. It is so sad, he went through literally everything in my life with me. Every boyfriend, every major decision of my life since I was 10. This is one of the most difficult things I have ever been through. Thank you for the hugs--I definitely feel like I need them now.

my friend's cat had a cancerous brain tumor. He was an older cat and he lived with it for a while. He had to get shots a few times a week.

I'm so sorry. I lost one of my cats last fall to cancer. Just try to make the kitty as comfortable as possible. Give it lots of love. We also took lots of pictures so we'd have them after he was gone.
