The people downstairs makeup this rule (they rent also) when we move in and say 'hey we wont make noise before 11am and you wont make noise after 11pm' they know you work really late and sleep late SO you always tip toe around the apt and come 10 pm. And then wake up at 1030am to them hamering away at something in the hallway!

IMO, as renters too I think it's kind of ballsy of them to suggest something like that. It would be one thing if they owned the place. That's ridiculous.

Sounds like they don't appreciate your consideration for them. How about a call to the landlord/rental office?

i would definetely make the surround sound as loud as you can and teach them a lesson. I have people who live upstairs from me who blast there music late at night and i cant fall asleep sooo yesterday I lol had to clean the house so I made my music loud in the morning now i didn't even hear the music last last night i guess they realize I can hear them.

I have the solution! My upstairs neighbors have a little girl who has a trampoline up there.......I think you guys should invest in one!!!! Make sure you keep it in the room that's right above their bedroom though
