So you think you have stress? (long)

I wrote a few months ago telling everyone that I had got my Hall, photographer and DJ for my June 15, 2002 wedding. Just this weekend, I found out my FI has been accepted into a PHD program in Calgary, Canada that is extremely hard to get into. It starts Sept. 1st and I would need a VISA if I want to be with him. To keep this from becoming a book, the only way this would work out was for me to push up the wedding to this June and go on his VISA as his spouse. To make this more difficult I have already commited to a summer program at the University of Michigan from June 1st - August 15th, so I'll have to fly in on Thursday for my wedding, and it also means no honeymoon until the middle of August. But, I was sooooo luckly. I was able to get the hall (Chateau la Mer)for June 30th, 2001 for an afternoon wedding, the photographer (Patken)is also free on that date, and I'm signing a contract today for the limos (All Star). I almost died when I called the church (St. Rose in Massapequa is always booked 2 years in advance) and they said they had the 11:00 ceremony available - This was too good to be true! My only problem is the DJ (Invitation to Dance)who is booked that day, but they are working on getting me a replacement. I got the name from a friend of these two great ladies called Arleen's whom I met with yesterday and got great internet discount prices walking on invitations and favors (we're doing a nautical theme wedding.) It has been so hetic, but thanks to this board I think I'm going to be able to pull this off. Next it's the florist and I'm taking a week off in April to find a dress. I could never believe in a million years that I could do a wedding this fast. Thanks guys for all the information on this board - it made it so much easier. I'll keep you informed of how it's going. Jen.

fantastic!

Great! sorry that you have to go through this very hectic time on an accelerated schedule... my advice, which I am sure u have done already, is to let all Fam & friends know NOW b4 the invites- that the date is moved up. I am hoping that your BMS are pitching in to help u here.... Best of luck! TIp: try silk flowers. I still have my bouq, and my 3 BMS and the pomadour from the flower girl. Beautiful momentos!

Silk Flowers

I was curious about silk flowers...did you have someone do them? Are they much more expensive than real flowers? Thanks Nancy

WOW!! It seems that you have things under control, eventhough you have had to move up your wedding..that is great! Congratulations to your fiancee on getting into such a competitive program, that must be really exciting! Take a deep breath...take it one day at a time, and ask people around you for help! Also remember that a lot of vendors may be able to give you a better deal (price wise), since you have a much shorter time frame to plan the wedding. Good luck and hang in there!!

So you think you have stress? reply

Thanks for all your good wishes. I just made reservations at the Fire Island Hotel for two nights with my bridal party for a 'honeymoon' weekend. I think that will be fun. I even found out the limo will take us to the ferry after the reception for only $30.00. It's just the details I am starting to worry about. Like will I have time for things like baskets for out of town guests, and hair and makeup - things like that. But I was told don't sweat the detail. Again, THANKS you guys for all your support. It made me feel so good. Jen
