social hypothetical

social hypothetical

Person 1 and Significant other 1 are in a relationship. So are person 2 and significant other 2. Relationship one has lasted years, relationship 2 is a couple of months in.

Persons 1 and 2 are good friends, maybe best friends for longer than the other relationships have existed. Significant other 1 can't stand SO2. They say SO2 was rude when they met, they're a jerk and they have no interest in spending time with them. Person 1 says SO1 should give SO2 another chance and the fact that they don't get along hinders person 1 from seeing person 2 since they can't all go out together and its important to person 1 that they all try to get along. SO1 says person 1 should be more concerned with how SO1 feels and not with how anyone else feels, that person 1 should be on their side.

Thoughts? I'm curious.

Re: social hypothetical

I think that SO1 should at least try and if SO2 still acts like a jerk, then Person 1 and 2 know that they can only hang out with each other and not with their SO's. Maybe, group 1 and group 2 should go somewhere like Dave and Busters to allow SO1 and SO2 to do something that is competitive yet fun. Person 1 and 2 get to hang out and SO1 and SO2 get to play games. It's worth a shot...

Well person 1 also says so1 is overreacting and so2 wasn't rude. So person 1 says if they says something to person 2, person 2 will just be insulted and so will so2 and then it will come ebtween person 1 and person 2. So person 1 doesn't want to say anything cause they say it won't solve anything

eeek! ok... i say give it another shot, and if they cant manage to get along, then person 1 is gonna be thinking of a lot of excuses not to get together with SO2 and person 2 - which just stinks!

i hope it all works out!

I Actually agree with SO1 and maybe in due time SO1 and SO2 will eventually start to like eachother dont force . Person1 needs to let SO1 be and if SO1 AND SO2 were meant to be friends it will happen. Don t try to force it the friendship is between person 1 and person 2

Re: social hypothetical

SO1 should give SO2 a second chance and try to hang out with him/her just for the sake of person 1. However if so2 can't get along with so1 after the second chance, person 1 should respect so1 feelings and not have double dates all the time with person 2 and so2. Person 1 should agree with so2 and only bring so2 out with person 2 and so2 for special and social occasions like birthday dinners and weddings.

Also if SO2 is that rude, then maybe person 1 should have a friendly talk with person 2 about it since they are good friends. Don't mention so1 but just bring up some rude or jerky instances from you hanging out with so2 and see what person 2 says. I mean at the end of the day u want ur friend to be happy and maybe so2 isn't the right person for person2
