Social Security & DMV Offices
Anyone know the best DMV and Social Security offices to go change all your information with? I want to get an idea of which offices have the shortest wait time. Thanks!

I went to the one downtown (William St.) last Tuesday afternoon and only waited about a half hour. I got my card in the mail Saturday, so super fast. They also let me change my middle name to my maiden name, which I was scared they wouldn't let me do. Good luck!
Don't you legally have to have a name changed to do that
Good to know that they let you change your maiden name to your middle name. I was told you have to change your name to just add your new last name and then change it again later and pay like $300 to do it again.
Soooooo not looking forward to this whole process! Lol
Nope, I didn't have to do anything but fill out the form. The woman didn't even flinch, just entered everything in. I was prepared for some push back, too. I've heard that the DMV is the one who gives a hard time (I haven't done that yet), but I checked the website last week and it says you can change your middle name to your former surname. I'm thinking maybe they changed the rules. Either way, SS was absolutely no issue at all!
Anyone know of any locations on LI?
Why would you change your middle name to your maiden name? Just curious
For me, it's a way to keep my last name around. I am taking on a very French last name and would like to keep my Latin surname alive somehow. Since I don't have a middle name, it seems like a perfect solution.
For me, my maiden name is very short and actually most people think it is my middle name all the time when I introduce myself. It's actually a man's first name also. I don't like my actual middle name, and I'm happy to keep my maiden name (which is a large part of my identity) as my middle name. I'm dropping my middle name.
good question- any recommendations for LI locations that had a short wait?
