Social Security Name Change Question

I'm going to go to SS this week. Do you get your new card while you are there or in a couple of weeks? TIA!

They mail you your new card, I got it about a week later.

They mail you your new card - mine took 2-3 weeks.

Thanks ladies! I need to make the change now for my taxes because I already changed my name at my job, so my W2 will say my new name now. Oh boy!: uncertain: Thanks ago for the info.

That's exactly why I still have not officially changed my name. It just makes it much easier to wait until after we do our taxes and yes I did get married over 6 months ago. My DH thinks it will be more beneficial if we file separately Married and with our house. We shall see.
