I am graduating with MSW this semester- in like 2 months! I'm taking license exam in June (I think) but I wanted to find out where/how you went about looking for jobs when you graduated? I would like to work with seniors but I am definitely open to other fields...I have experience with seniors and children/teens as far as my internships go. Any advice? Thanks so much!!

I got my MSW in 07. Took the L two weeks after I graduated. Make sure to take it asap! As for job search I was on all the websites, monster, career builder, craigslist, idealist, socialservice.com. Then I looked at agencies I knew were in my specialty and ended up getting a job from careerbuilder. My current job I found on craigslist. Good luck! And if you need any help let me know.

I graduated last May and started looking online Indeed/Careerbuilder and got a job before I graduated.

i got my MSW in 08, took the exam, literally on the first day i was eligable to take it. def take it asap! i am very fortunate that both myself and bff (also an lmw) got clinical positions right after we passed our tests. my suggestion would be to send your resume to any and every agency you are interested in whether they are hiring or not. it was a pain in the butt to fax/email so many people but it worked out for me. the agency i work for was JUST launching a hispanic program and we slipped right in before they even had a chance to post on career builder or monster and now we are the ones running the program, with only 3 years under our belts. social work is a tough feild so you have to be aggressive! good luck!
