I drink caffeine free coke/pepsi every now and then. You just want to stay away from caffeine and diet because of the chemicals.

MODERATION!! That is what my OB always told me.
You can still have it, just not as much or as often. Once in a while should b fine.

Re: Soft Drinks

I'm 8 weeks pregnant, and my doctor just told me last week that I could have 3 glasses of soda a day if I'd like. I was very surprised. Of course I won't be doing that, but I feel better knowing that if I want to treat myself to a coke once in awhile, it's not going to be horrible. For now I try to drink Sprite, but I have had a glass of soda this week, as a treat.

Re: Soft Drinks

Supposedly there is 4x more caffeine in one cup of coffee (200mg) than there is in one Coke (50mg), which I never knew. But between the caffeine & the sodium...also, it's a diuretic (sp?) and you want to be hydrated so if you can avoid it, that's your best bet. I'm an all or nothing person, either I'm on the stuff or off it, and luckily I've been off it for the most part.

I didn't drink any coke or pepsi - nothing with caffeine and i stayed away from the decaf anyway because it's loaded with sugar. But I am not a big soda drinker. When I was DYING for something, I had Root Beer

Re: Soft Drinks

every two weeks or so I will have Caffeine free Diet Coke or Sierra Mist

if I have soda, I have regular/caffeine free like Minute Maid Orange soda is really good or slice or Sierra Mist

I try to drink water or apple juice or orange juice but sometimes you just want soda! like you said its hard
and I have read the there are NO problems with Diet /caffeine free but people say to have lesser amounts to be safe but nothing has been proven that it is unsafe

I drink a lot of cranberry raspberry juice. If I want soda I drink sprite and as a treat will drink caffeine free diet coke but I was reading in the What to Expect book that diet sugars are not really good.

Alvatorre74-
Ironically last night I came across an article that said soda is not good for the baby because it contains too much phosphorous.

I haven't had any coke or pepsi - when I want soda (not nearly as much as I used to drink) I will have Sprite since it's caffene free.

lately I've been trying to drink more water and fruit juices now.
