At a trimming store in the fabric district and they wanted to charge me $37 for 10 yards of ribbon. Does that seem expensive because it seemed like it to me.

ribbon can be expensive, i paid $20 for less than 10 yards alot less.
Try the wholesale district next time, they have it for alot less

Keep walking up and down the streets there. On my way to RK bridal, I saw a bunch that had sales. I think RK is on 39th Street and 8th avenue. On 39th, tons of trimming stores. If you go to M&J trimmings, that's the most expensive one... I feel there are better deals. HTH!

oh i steer clear of M&J they are overpriced. They want a 2' ribbon. Do you think it would be cheaper at michaels or something?

yeah you should actually, otherwise the ribbon can stain...or you can put pastry paper or something in between the cake and ribbon so it doesnt do this

go to B&J Florist Supply on 28th & 6th ave 212- 564-6086. u can get 100 yards of DFS ribbon for $15-$20 depending on the size.

i got mine at michaels for cheap. i only needed 3 yards to complete my 5 tiers. i used regular ribbon, i think 2 inches wide.

Go to Michaels - I got a pink satin ribbon ($2 for 10 yards). I gave a sample to the bakery (through CHCC) and they said it was perfect!

OK i just googled it and found this site that has the DFS ribbon :) I've been on this site before they have great stuff, never knew about the ribbon though.

its double faced satin ribbon, meaning satin on both sides. when u walk in there is a wall on the left filled with it from ceiling to almost the floor.
they have single faced satin ribbon also which is cheaper & less yardage, but u get more for your buck with the DFS.
