Re: Weird friend/BM situation..

I think you should just give her some time - if I were her, I probably would want some time before I could get excited about my best friend's wedding again. IMO, saying she doesn't want to ruin your happy time is probably pretextual, but there's nothing you can do about that. Also, it's entirely possible she doesn't want to talk to anyone right now. If this persists, I'd be worried and might show up at her home, but for now, I'd give her more time. When she's ready, she'll find you.

Nic,

I think the best thing you can do is to give her time. She is hurting right now and is probably jealous and hurt that you are getting and she just ended a relationship. Maybe you could send her an email letting her know how much you love her and care for her and that you will always be there for her. Then give her some time to cope with her breakup.

Re: Weird friend/BM situation..

thanks guys, Hollie, that's exactly what I did!

Actually, I had a specific question for her (something COMPLETELY not wedding related), and I can't even get her to talk to me to answer it.

It's been over a week since we spoke.

Honestly, to me it sounds like she needs you but doesn't want to unload her problems on you. Let her know you are there for her no matter what.

I have a feeling you're 100% right. I just can't get her to let me in

Totally understandable. It can't be too easy for her right now as I'm sure we can all imagine. This is when she needs her friends the most..some people just shut down at these same exact times. It's weird but it's just natural to want to be alone. Deep down I'm sure she really needs a shoulder to lean on. Try your best and when she's ready she'll open up. All my best to her.

Re: Weird friend/BM situation..UPDATE 12:45am

I had to go to my best friends bridal shower just 3 weeks after I had split from an ex I dated for 4 years - who at the time I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I never called my friend beforehand to tell her we split because a) I was afraid I'd blow the surprise and b) I didnt want to bring her down during the happiest time of her life. So, I doped myself up on Zanax, went to the shower and made the best of it. I sort of understand where your friend is coming from.
