some advice to '10 brides

It'll take me a while to get my review up but I wanted to share some advice:

1) If you can fit it into your budget, hire a day of coordinator. I hired Lisa from Elite Affairs for only half a day and wow was she worth every single penny. What I regret is not hiring her for a full day (I was trying to save money). Had she been there the whole day with me I KNOW a few things that went wrong would have been avoided.

It really is great having someone there whose only concern is looking out for you. My mom and MOH were fantastic, but they had to stress with getting ready as well. Plus at the reception they wanted to have a good time and party... I don't blame them, haha!! A coordinator will put your mind at ease. Get one... preferably Lisa, she's fantastic!!!!

2) Go with your gut instinct on picking vendors! FH has family friends who he wanted to do our personal flowers. I was skittish about using them especially after looking at pictures of what work they've done in the past and not really liking it, but figured 'I'm giving them pictures of exactly what I want, how can I not like the finished product?!' Well surprise surprise I was not happy with the end result. Every time I see one of my wedding pictures my eyes dart to the flowers... not fun. Just go with your gut, if you're not sure about a vendor, use another one! It's not worth the stress and concern on your wedding day!

3) Get comfy shoes (or at least comfy shoes to change into to)!!!! I didn't want to switch into flip flops because I was a stubborn tough girl who 'could handle it'. About an hour before the end of the reception I was DYING!!! I refused to take them off and drag my dress and just danced through the pain, but on the limo ride home my feet were throbbing!! Save yourself the grief and pain and be comfortable!!!!

4) Make yourself a very detailed timeline - for getting ready as well as for the reception. I paid for all my girls to get their hair and makeup done. Before I knew it, it was 2pm and my hair was only set - meanwhile I was supposed to be all ready with hair and makeup by 2:30pm!!! I blame myself for not keeping a watch of the time (but again if I had Lisa there all day with me this would have been avoided for sure). Also, at the reception the maitre d messed up the timing of the parent dances and I ended up dancing with my dad while all the guests were in the other room during Viennese hour. I know how much my dad was looking forward to that dance so I'm really upset with how it panned out. BUT AGAIN..if I had Lisa there, this could have been avoided!!

5) Don't sweat the small stuff on the day of!!! All the above stuff happened but I wouldn't let it get me upset (for more than just a few min at most!) It's your wedding day and you only get one of these.... do not let something silly ruin it! Just remember what the day is all about: You are marrying your best friend and have all your family and friends there to celebrate with you. It's the most amazing feeling and I'm jealous of all the brides that get to go through it in 2010! Congrats ladies!!!!
