Re: some friend
I think you could let it go (she might just be jelous for the time) but if it continues, you gotta let her know.

Re: some friend
If I was you I would have made her feel guilty and said something like, 'My father and I've always dreamt of this for my wedding'. People can be really insensitive when you talk about your wedding. I don't know if it's jealousy or what.

IGNORE HER...shes jealous.....lol...
Let it go., you dont want to start a mess or ruin your friendship over ice sculptures..
Just be prepared to get more comments.

I agree. Let it go this time. Some people are just not into wedding talk. That's why we've got the boards. We all chat about the same things !

Re: some friend
Just like the girls have said, be prepared for all sorts of comments and just tell us all your thoughts that the 'others' wouldn't understand! I would let it go for now but if she insists on spoiling it for you tell her you are hurt.
I haven't told anyone except my best friend and FH (who thinks I'm nuts!) that I'm on this chat because my wedding is so far away... Especially as in Greece people start planning weddings MAX 1 year in advance Imagine me telling people I have flower ideas 3 years in advance!!! (I just think it's fun, I really enjoy looking at wedding stuff, what's wrong with that!)
Sorry I took over your post

Re: some friend
I would ignore it. Weddings always bring out the jealousy and cattiness in people. It's your day and her opinions and criticisms should not sway you from doing something you really want to do.

Re: some friend
don't worry about her! when it comes time for her to get married, she will understand. and IMO, it's not 'going overboard' - if you can afford it, and it's part of your dream wedding, go for it!

eh just let it go. I'd be annoyed too, but don't let it get to you. She has probably never planned a wedding-? And doesn't understand the little details and stuff like that.

Re: some friend
I don't think you should let it go - don't let ill feelings build up between the two of you, just approach her in a friendly way - and tell her she hurt your feelings and despite what she thinks your going to have the ice sculptures because you like them & you would apperciate she support you in any decsions you make
I cant believe how people can be so insensitive

Re: some friend
honestly everyone in my family and all my friends have made comments like 'your going overboard' and i am not doing anything extra except for a damn chocolate fountain which my own parents were making fun of me for.
i think most people think its silly to really get 'extra's' especially where money could be spent elsewhere. I wouldn't be angry I just come back with a well if you coul dof done this for your wedding you prob. would have or lets see what happens at your wedding and then laugh about it.
I would talk to her about it but not get all fussy about it. Then agian it looks like i am in the majority here.

Re: some friend
I think sometimes friends (particularly those who have never planned a wedding) don't realize how personally we brides can take things. Then again, some people just don't know when to keep their mouths shut.
Try (as hard as you can) to ignore her and get as many ice sculpture as you want. I'd even go so far as to seat her near them.
