Some Good News --Mexico Honeymooners! PLEASE READ
Although I've been trying to be confident about our honeymoon to Mexico in 2 months I've had some recent doubts. Ironically, my mom had a funeral to go to this weekend and met up with a relative from Paris who moved to Mexico City to start a business (they've been there for many years now).
My mom called me and let him talk to me and he assured me ever thing is perfectly fine. I told him where we are going to be staying (Excellence PM) and he said I shouldn't have any trouble. They live in Mexico City and have had no issues. He said just like any other place you visit be cautious of what’s around your. Don't go around flashing money and jewelry. He said it's the same as taking the subways, just be smart. This made me feel SOOOO much better. He's family (through marriage) and he would not steer me wrong. I just wanted to share this to ease some people's worries. I know there have been a ton of posts about this and I too became worried. I was almost considering changing the HM this weekend until I spoke to him. Now we are sticking with our plans....rooftop terrace here we come!!
He also was a little upset with the fact of how things are being shown in the media. He said it's not like that everywhere and they are making it seem a lot worse then it is. It's specifically in a certain area and obviously that area I would stay away from and I would advise anyone else to as well. He said a lot of it is politics...trying to keep $$ out of Mexico as a way to try and pressure the wars to stop. They rely heavily on tourism and with the media showing things this way it is deterring people away.
