some of you may not cover gray but...need advice

ok 42 years no grays...ok I should be thankful..most of my friends started at 30. It's not a lot and just starting (it couldn't wait a year?) but underneath and I will have hair up in front for wedding
.
I DO NOT want to to do permanent but semi rinse.
I used to use color spa castings when I dyed my hair a different color a couple of years ago.
I used soft black and it was perfect..I hate harsh black.
I am natural black.

Anyways, now that castings is not made anymore...any suggestions?

ask ur hair person about glaze...i don't know if it will cover gray, but it doesnt hurt to ask...used it a few times, years ago, it's semi-perm, and makes your hair shiny and look healthy!!!!

why not perm? it's so worth it! i've been coloring my hair for years, mostly for fun....now out of necessity :)

cuz after wedding, I am highlighting and dont want perm black in...my hair and scalp are also dry and perm will dry it out more...

I am NYS licensed but better at cutting lol

I'll check beauty supply stores maybe...

What about the ones that say touch up that are in the hair aisle? Do those wash out faster than the salon hair dyes?

It's in the drugstore, not professional, but I always used Natural Instincts by Clairol and loved it... I did the red shades and they took great and washed out in about 3 weeks or so. Semi permanent, not demi permanent, I don't know if it matters to you.

ETA, I knw they make really DARK shades and I *think* they make black, but it might be hard to find.

Since you're a licensed hairstylist, why not get Sebastian Cellophanes at a beauty supplier (cheaper than salons)? It'll make your hair nice and shiny and its defintiely not perm. Any grey hair may not come out black black, but def won't be grey. I've never done black so I'm not sure how it comes out, but I have a client that has natural red hair and I use a red in her hair and it really boosts the red and blends in any of the few greys she has.
Or else try a demi perm. Not permanent but lasts longer than semi and not damaging. Schwarzkopf Viviance line is nice.
But I would would go a level up from black if you're planning on highlights in the future. Black is a B**ch to get out. Even semi perm if it's put into pourous hair can hold the color.

FM me if you want formulas or anything. I LOVE color.

maybe I should use dark brown..hmmm..if it has no lift...the black wont really change and the gray will be dark brown which is ok...look like highlights...

I'm 27 and 4 gray hairs My natural hair color is brown.
My hairstylist does black lowlights to cover them up. I love it because I only need to go every 3 months or so to touch it up and dont have to dye my whole head.
