SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST SO HEARTLESS...

I'm so upset I can't even believe it. I was out of the office yesterday because we had to put my cat to sleep on Saturday. We had PJ for 13 years and I loved him very much. It was so difficult on Sunday night thinking about him especially when seeing our other cat walking around so solemnly looking for his brother. It was breaking my heart. I was up crying ALL night on Sunday and got about 2 hours of sleep. On Monday morning my eyes were so swollen and red I could hardly see out of them and had a pounding headache. I called into work saying I wasn't feeling well and very upset because we had to put my cat down, etc. I come into work today and I found out that my business manager actually had the nerve to mark me down for a VACATION day. Some people just don't understand that losing a family pet is like losing a family member. Sorry so long - I just needed to vent.

I know how you feel hun.....fortunately at my job everyone has a pet, and when is sick or goes down...it's not even an afterthought to take the day. You should have just said there was a death in your family.....'nuff said, ya know? I feel for you...I hope your mourning period gets better with time!

We actually went to Northshore on Sunday and got a new kitten but he's sick and has to be kept separate from our other cat for another 6 days.

I am so sorry for your loss, I know how difficult it is to loose a pet. Just find comfort in knowing that your cat loved you as much as you loved him. I also admire you for adopting another kitty and giving it a loving home

My cat was 17 years old when he passed away. I still get upset when I think about him. I'm so sorry for your loss....

I'm so sorry about your cat and about what happened at work. Some people just don't value animals, they think of them as objects, not living beings with feelings. I believe that there is a Heaven for pets too, but if you don't believe in that, at least be comforted that he lived a very long and happy life and that he is not in pain anymore.

When I lost my first cat, who I absolutely adored, I wrote a looong list of all of the cute and quirky things about him. It made me feel so much better, b/c I would never ever forget even the smallest detail. I still have that list today.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had to put our 16 year old cat down a little over a week ago, so I am feeling the same as you are. My other cat still seems so depressed. He's crying SO much and he just seems really clingy. Very unlike him. Feel better, and take some comfort in that new kitten!

Oh, I am so sorry

My 16 year old dog died about 5 years ago and I found out while I was at my office (wasn't a teacher at the time). I was hysterical at my desk and had to run into the bathroom. My co-workers followed me in to console me and then my boss came in and told me to go home and take the next couple of days off. I'll never foget how sweet and understanding she was.

I'm sorry your manager was such an ass about it. Some people are just very heartless.

Anyway, I am so sorry for your loss.

awe. Some people really are so COLD

When my grandmother was really ill, she was breathing her last few breaths (she had had leukemia for 2 months in the hospital).
My entire family was 'on alert' for news from any of us, from the hospital, to 'go quickly'.
Well I was working at THE GAP on Madison and 54th, and got 'the call'. Even my managers knew the call would be coming. It was my sister and she said 'come now and come quickly'.. So completely bawling I ran downstairs, got my bag, didnt even clock out, and ran out the door. They 'knew' and so I just ran out the door, maybe telling a few coworkers I passed along the way, through tears and all.

A few days later, I came back and told them that I was going to Italy to bury her and are you ready for what my manager responded ???????????

'Well Anna, the other day, when you left, you never stopped so I could check your bag. You know those are grounds for dismissal right?'

I wanted to beat the crap out of him !!! Can you IMAGINE ????????????????????????????

Needles to say I never went back, and that memory of THE GAP will stay with me forever.
