I am really nervous about precana this weekend-for many reasons one being that while FH is catholic his family isnt really religious and never really taught him anything or sent him to religoius ed etc (my family on the other hand is quite the opposite-my uncle is a priest etc)
My really silly question about precana is what to wear? Is it in appropriate to be wearing jeans?
Also what did you guys do at precana? how was it?
Thanks in advance for easing a stressed brides silly worries

Re: Some Questions about PreCana
No worries..it'll be fine. And FH will be fine - there are no religious tests. The only test you will take is the FOCCUS test which is basically just based on your opinions and how well your answers match to each others and the church's views. You would have to be in complete disagreement about just about everything for the church to say they will not marry you based on the test. So it's really not a problem.
Yes...you can wear jeans...you want to be comfortable since you'll be sitting for a long time listening to people speak.

Re: Some Questions about PreCana
I was dreading it!!! but it actually was fun all the people in our group were great!!!! DayBeforeThanksgiving was in my group as well!!! We loved the couples who ran it.....it was %100 better then what we thought it was going to be!!! and yes jeans are fine! I think what you basically do depends on the people who are doing the class ours we talked about communication and our group leaders had us write letters to our Fh and we would exchange them it was cute! I liked listening to the couples who were married for 30 yrs...and they tell all the good and bad they have been through......IT GIVES HOPE!!!! lol
good luck...u will be fine!

Re: Some Questions about PreCana
Hey TJ!! Yes, pre-cana was awesome! We had some great couples... Nothing to dread... I'm not super religous so I was really dreading it too, but it's actually kind of fun. It was nice to sit and talk to FH on a more serious note... I enjoyed it.

Don't worry. We actually had fun. And the FOCUS test depends on the Parish. My parish doesn't believe in it. It is not a thing that the catholic church mandates.
I wore jeans, be comfortable. There is no catholic quizzing. Some of the couples we had were not both catholic.

Re: Some Questions about PreCana
We had pre cana last weekend. SOO BORING. There was about 120 of us in an NON- airconditioned room from 9:30-4:30 while some guy spoke at the front of the room. there was no interaction whatsoever. I wore capris and a nice t-shirt. some people were more dressy and some looked like they just rolled out of bed.
ETA - we did out FOCCUS test back in September and STILL do not have teh results. We have called teh church multiple times and they never call us back!

Re: Some Questions about PreCana
We did the one day pre cana out in Long Beach and there was no test. Actually, there was no conversation either. It was about 20 couples in a room listening to the pastor and a married couple talking about marriage - which was fine, but I would have liked something different. Then we watched a movie that must have been made in another era - it was so unintentionally hilarious - the gender roles were so antiquated.

Re: Some Questions about PreCana
We enjoyed it. We both enjoy church so it was nice to reinforce our faith into the planning of the wedding event. FH was happy they fed us.
