Somebody's getting married!!!!

Yippppeee! It's ME!!!!

As excited as I am, it wouldn't be MY wedding unless there were last minute problems soooooo, does anyone know an awesome tailor in the oyster bay area that will hem my MOH's dress? It's toooo long! She was walking around in it last night and tripped all over it, almost ripped it and one side is longer than the other. the bust is loose too. We have been calling all over but none of the tailors are in yet. Need to be ready by 2:00. I suggested wearing a higher heel but she doesn't have any.

Onward to problem number 2 - anyone ever try to cut a veil? I was trying to save money and sent this company (a very reputable one at that - but I refuse to bash on my wedding day ) pictures of me in the veil I wanted (see my photo album), and even called the store where I tried it on to get the EXACT dimensions and comb placement and stitching etc. (that store wouldn't sell me their veil b/c I didn't buy my dress there..... again no bashing today). Anyway, long story short, I had the veil shipped to jersey to save the tax (stupid) so i just saw it for the first time last night and it is soooooooo wrong! Way too long in the back and too much material and the blusher falls to almost my KNEES!!!! And when I wear it you can't even see my face through all the wrinkles b/c there is so much fabric. Some might say 'so what, its just a veil' but really I think it IS what MAKES the bride and I was soooooooo excited to wear it.

I as thinking of just taking a scissor and cutting the back and more importantly, cutting the blusher completely off. Can this even be done without ruining the veil completely?

Anyone have any other ideas?

Hmmm - sometimes dry cleaners have a tailor there. I wonder if they would be able to cut it for you. Is there anyone who could make a few calls, find out if they can, and then run over there with the veil?

Regardless of how the veil looks, know that you are a Beautiful Bride who is marrying the man that you love!!!

OH goodness! I don't about cuttigna veil. I guess if it doen't have edging, it will be ok. Is there any palce you could buy a new one today?

I don't know ay tailors, but it shouldn't be too complicate if it is jsut a hem. try somw local dry cleaners. I know mine doesn't have the tailor there every day, but maybe one buy you will have one in on Friday.

Is there anyone in your family that could sew a quick hem in your MOH dress? I'm sure it stick out the night...as for her the top part..maybe it can just be pinned with those little saftey pins in the inside and somewhere where its not noticabale...

Never underestimate the power of scotchtape. You could hem the dress that way in a pinch. Just fold and tape to the underside. I definitely would safetypin the bust though... don't want any mishaps on the dance floor.

Oooh I just noticed you are getting married at Carlyle... your bridal assistant should be skilled with a needle and thread. Give them a call.

Yaaaay!!! I am so excited for you guys. As for your sister, I think the suggestion to go to a dry cleaner is a good one - they normally have tailors there who can do a hem on the spot.

As for your veil, is there somewhere I can go in the city today to get you what you need? I could probably have Steve drop it off to you by 2pm. However, if there is no edging on it, I don't see why you couldn't cut it as its 'just a piece of tulle'! Or does your make-up or hair person have anything you could borrow for the day?

Have you considered the iorn on tape to hem her dress? One of the coordinators we met with keeps it on hand in case a hem falls. She told us she buys the one for heavy curtains since the satin material isn't lightweight. Maybe someone could run to Michaels?

I've never cut a veil but maybe you could run to a bridal store really quick!

Hang in ther - before you know it you'll be married & laughing at all this craziness!

Maybe call the hall & see what bridal attendant would suggest - I'm sure they have to deal with this stuff when brides get there & thats REALLY last min!

hi! It's me again. I am MARRIED NOW!!!! But wanted to say that it alllllllll worked out. My FH, uhoh, i mean my HUSBAND is so intoxicated that he just spend 4 minutes ( alot to a drunk man) trying to to put his pants on - too bad they weren't pants. It was his SHIRT. Wouldn't go to bed until he had them on and wouldn't let me help him. Boy he gets stubborn when he is drunk. As I am writing this with one eye-ball open, I will have to just say that NELSON D'LEON was THE BEST BEST BEST. Full review coming tomorrow.
