Someone gave me a great idea, But now I need more help!

Instead of using a guest book, someone told me to have guests sign a Christmas Tree Skirt, that's different than the quilts (since I don't sew) and the ceramic platter I wanted to do (I like the other idea better). Now my question is where can I find a nice plain satin tree skirt (ivory or white one) that I can have embroidered with our names & wedding date?? HELP!!!!! Thanks girls!!!!

How about contacting a seamstress? I'm sure that they can find you the fabric you want...

look up fabric stores in the yellow pages...my mother is an advid quilter and goes to Sentimental Stiches in Cold Spring Harbor and Patchworks in Sayville

Re: Someone gave me a great idea, But now I need more help!

I'm sorry I can't ever say that I've seen a tree skirt on the plain side that would work for signatures. But I wanted to say that I love the idea!

I posted a while ago about a signature quilt wall hanging that I'm making to use instead of a guest book that I'm really excited about.

I agree with starting with the quilt shops. If you find a whole cloth (one piece of fabric that is marked for quilting, usually for a bed spread) and somehow shape it as a tree skirt, you can have a quilt shop machine quilt it for not too much money...??

I hope this helps!
Jen

Fortunoff has a great Christmas store. However, I'm not sure if it's open yet? Usually August-Christmas merch. starts making an appearance!
There's also another Christmas shop in Port Jefferson you could try in!

Re: Someone gave me a great idea, But now I need more help!

Thanks girls, I fell in love with idea but I haven't had much luck finding one, at least not the kind I'm looking for so I might have to scrap that idea. I just got a quote from a woman who does memory quilts, I send her the fabric sqaures after we have the guests sign them with permanent fabric markers & a picture of us that she will transfer onto the center of the quilt, she said the total cost was $125 which is pretty good so I might just do that one instead, but thanks for your input girls!

Lots of the stores will start putting out Christmas stuff soon. Also do an online search. I bet you find a ton of them.
