And honestly I am irked because I think it's going to take a lot of the attention away from the bride and groom - all of FH's friends are going to be like, 'who's the sweet dude in the kilt' and this guy is going to be the laughingstock. Oh, well - nothing I can do....the worst part is that FH's aunt wants to 'surprise' us (I love how people do this 11 days before the wedding, when I have been planning this extravaganza for 1.5 years) - and have bagpipes play during our RECEPTION - um, no. First of all, I HATE bagpipes, second of all I hate surprises and third of all, I hate when people mess with my planning.
How is THAT for Bridezilla

Well, at least you know about the 'surprise bagpipes' beforehand. I feel the same way that you do about them. That's really crossing the line trying to give the bride and groom a surprise if you don't know whether or not they'd like it.
As far as as the kilt goes, don't sweat it. I went to a wedding where someone wore a kilt; people got over it pretty quickly.

Thanks, Mel. I think my Mom may have succeeded in telling the person who wants to surprise us with the bagpipes that it isn't a good idea.....hopefully....
You're right...the kilt isn't a big deal....I'm just being a little 'zilla' right now. (FH has been calling me Zilla lately...he's so sweet )

they sound nervy- but I agree with the poster that said people will get over it quickly. Everyone wants to look at the BRIDE on the wedding day. Not some dude in a kilt anyway.

I guess? I don't really know the guy....He is Scottish though, so I think a kilt is what they consider formalwear. I am trying to look at it in a positive way - like just another 'unique' aspect to our wedding
