Someone Just Shoot Me Now!!!

With 37 days to go to my rehearsal dinner, my brother informed me he quit his job.

Why is this a big deal you ask? Because he was (or is for the next 10 days) the banquet manager and head chef at the country club I booked for my RD a full 8 months ago!!!!!!!!!!! Since we're family, I don't have a contract etc, and there is NO way, I will get the same deal I was getting.

So now, as if I don't have enough on my plate, I have to find a new place to hold the RD!

Oh jeez, Darlene!!!! You keep getting hit left and right, lately!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any way, you could go back to the original rest and ask them to uphold what contract you did hold. The worst answer you could get is no, but it wouldn't hurt to try!

As for restaurants! What area, northport?

OMG Darlene, I am so sorry Were things that bad for him? OMG I would kill him. Is he leaving on good terms, could he say something/get something in writing b4 he leaves. Could you beg him to stay the extra 4 weeks?

No, things weren't bad for him at all!! I soooo want to kill him. He isn't leaving on good terms I don't think. Some random person called him for a job interview and offered him more $$, but that job comes with so much less prestige and he's just such an idiot he doesn't realize it. Not to mention that he is making pretty good money now. Heck, he makes $20K more that I do, and I'm the one with the professional degree!

He was in the middle of a wedding when he told me this so I couldn't talk to him about getting a written contract from him before he leaves, but even if I did, the food won't be as good because he won't be cooking!!!!!!! I really want to smack him upside the head!

And just to add to my angst, I stayed up until 2:00 AM Friday to make the RD invites. The only reason they aren't in the mail is because I needed the direction cards from him, which I had planned on getting today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Given the news, I think I have to expand from Northport (which only has Pumpernickles, and Skippers, in addition to the Country Club) to include Huntington. Any suggestions would be welcome!!!

I believe Nocello in Northport does groups as does the Crossroads in E.Northport.

Thanks for the suggestions. I should have remembered Nocellos - I can walk there from my house (and I know the owner)!! But my brother is a better chef than Irving!!!

Darlene, Meehans is great bar type atmosphere and the food is great. We thought about there for our rehearsal dinner and prices were very reasonable!!

If you expand the area to Huntington, your options are endless. In the village alone there are so many options.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that you find a good deal at a great restaurant.

Just because I am his sister, and we had an arrangement doesn't mean his little itty bitty brain gave my RD a single thought when he got an offer from another place.
