Someone please explain florists to me...

When I go meet with a florist, do I already have to know what I want as far as my bouquets, centerpieces, etc? What if I end up getting different color BM dresses than I have in mind? Do I need to have my colors picked out? Clueless here!

ETA: How do they estimate your price quote?

My FI was a florist for about 7 years. He said you really don't need to worry about what you want exactly until about 3 months before the wedding. Just try to keep a notebook of things you like and dislike to show them when the time comes. Example: I like the way this bouquet is arranged, I love this flower, I hate this color, etc, etc, etc ...
When you go now tell him about the hall (how many tables you think you may have), how many bridesmaids and he can probably give you an idea but until you pick what you like I don't know if you'll get the exact price.

I am glad that I waited until it was close to my wedding because my taste changed alot through the past year.
I would definatly say that you should have an idea of color scheme at the very least. And just look through magazines and find what you like. don't stress its so much fun!

most places will help you out...show you books...try to get an idea of what you want...they are very helpful
