Someone Up There is Definitely Looking Out for Me
So, I am now home, and not at work b/c:
I was driving on the Gowanus (BQE) this morning heading into NYC from Brooklyn and saw an Express Bus in the HOV Lane (I was in the left lane, directly to the right of the bus) with a loose mudguard flying in the air (still attached to the bus) and slowed down b/c (obviously) something will happen.
I slowed down to let the bus get a good distance in front of me, and for me to switch into the next lane to the right to avoid the bus, when all of a sudden, the mudguard flew off the bus, hitting an orange divider tall cone (the ones that separate lanes, tall with two black weights on the bottom) flying into the air, and slammed into my windshield, shattering the entire windshield and came into my car through the dashboard and into the backseat, where the divider landed inside of my car missing my skull by a mere centimeter.
Of course the bus had absolutely no idea what was going on (b/c they're so large) and it is indeed a FREAK accident.
I pulled over by the tunnel, where I was met by TBTA Officers with their jaws dropped to the ground, and described what happened. They stopped the bus, got me all the information, filed a report, had an ambulance come (even though THANK GOD I was okay) and gave me a police escort to my house.
I called my insurance broker (Statefarm) hysterical crying (the whole shock of the incident hit at that exact moment) and he came to my house, and had my car picked up, got the windshield fixed, cleaned up my car (like new) and had it dropped back at my house. Talk about quick service eh?
So....that was my morning - how was everyone else's?
I definitely have someone up there looking out for me right?
