PS what kind of hutch are you looking for?
Did you try The PLace in Farmingdale on Rt 110? They have a lot, all different styles.

The dining room looks great. I would check restoration hardware for a china cabinet. I think they would match the look you are going for.

I checked out both places. The problem is I need something sort of narrow - I don't have a lot of room to work with (like maybe 16 inches deep or so) . I need it in either white (but not country looking) or cherry wood. These both seem hard to find.

(which do you think will look better?)

I was thinking white - then I have all these cool old looking mirrors and I have to put up curtains and some art...but I want everything to stay white/biege in the room.

I think I like the idea of a white hutch better 16' is pretty narrow - have you tried Ikea?

I know a lot of people don't like Ikea I just thought they may have something different you could get ideas from if nothing else.

This may be too country for you - if you dont like the color you could always paint it and/or always change hardware on it.
It's only 18' deep

I found this one at www.furniture.com
They have pages of china cabinets
This one is only 17' deep and its $899

Kathy you are the best.

It is a little too country for me...
17-18' is totally doable...its just the style that is killing me...

let me show you some things I liked so far:

ok - you may think I am nuts - but I LOOOOOOVE this - just dont know how it would look in my room - but I think fab (I can see the little ones finger prints all over it already) and actually my hubby loves it too.

something like this - but in white
(hubby hates it)

again my husband says this is too country?

eta - i like that second one you posted - but its not the right color - not sure I have the patience to paint it.

WOAH! Holy Mirrors!
Well, you've seen pics of my house and we're very country...LOL so I think our tastes are very different. But it's what you like that maters for your house! If you love it, go for it!!

Did you check out www.furniture.com?
Where is the mirrored hutch from?

Re: Someone wanted to see the light I chose for my dining room...

hehe
its from Horchow.

I did check out furniture. I dont love anything.

I think we need to get something made for us. My inlaws have a great carpenter we can use...but I have to draw a pic first.

On to another topic -I need to get something dressier for that window - do you think a simple curtain rod/curtain will do - or should I do something more structured?

Re: Someone wanted to see the light I chose for my dining room...

For the DR window or the LR?

yeah you could always have something made for you!! Have you tried Home Expo?

Re: Someone wanted to see the light I chose for my dining room...

for the DR. (see that window on the side)

In the living room we had blinds put up today.

The room behind the french doors is actually a sun room - we are redoing that whole room in a few weeks

Re: Someone wanted to see the light I chose for my dining room...

humm...my opinion is if yu're going to leae the rest fo the room kind of simple, then dress up the curtains a little. But I'm also a big fan of simple curtains that let the light shine through. I love curtains like in my DR - lemmie see if I have a pic...the curtain rod I have is a thicker than normal curtain rod that looks kinda like a column..
ok i have one pic of my DR and one of my BR curtains, but the pics stink but I'll p[ut them here anyway
