We weren't planning on inviting my moms co-workers to the wedding... So yesterday, my mom comes home from work with a list of 10 or more people to add to my list of already 340! She said they already bought me shower gifts!!! They weren't even going to get invited! GRRR! I can't complain about getting gifts but that's just annoying! Plus, they hired a new girl and she said that as a wedding gift to me she wants to pay for my hair and make-up as well as my moms... It's very nice of them but I just don't have the heart to tell them they weren't going to get invited until I found out they bought me things... I feel bad .. My mom says its only right to invite them now (obviously) but sooo many people.... My budget was for 215 people, now my list is 340... Sorry just a little vent...

Wow, that's a big jump in numbers! FH and I set out from the beginning with under 200 in mind and cut out SO many people. You can't think of hurting feelings when it comes to planning a wedding. If you want it to be a big sha-bang with everyone you both know, then that is one thing. FH and I didn't want it that way and wanted only those who are really close to us. That helps tell people that they aren't invited. Trust me, I've had to do it already several times. People understand.

I'm sorry but I say if you don't have 'room' for them then they can't come. No one told them to go off and start buying you a sh!tload of gifts. Just because they bought you something does not guarantee them an invitation. Not to mention it's very forward of them (if not a little passive aggressive) to try and weedle an invitation like this.
I've had a couple of co workers ask me where I was registered and when I hesitated they said they didn't care if they weren't invitied - they understood I had a limited guestlist (budget), they just wanted to do something nice for me because they like me I'm still a bit uncomfortable but I think it's nice they thought of me and made a point of mentioning that they weren't expecting anything in return.

My RH can hold up to 550 which is good but if it only held like 250 I'd have to say no.
