Why do people think we need to be in constant growth in the economy? You can't have a period of great growth without some corrections. Ask any stock market expert...after a run up in the market, there has to be a correction.
The first 4 years of the Bush presidency had a pretty good economy. Also, look at the timeline and you'll see the dot com burst happened before Bush was elected. We give credit to Clinton for the dot com boom and blame bush for the burst of the bubble...not true...
I also find it funny how everyone wants to bail people out of the housing debacle, but no one asked the government for a bailout on the dot com bust...and it's the same thing. You have to let these economic conditions take their course and not reward poor decision making.
Now..heres the part most you wont like..buts its me stating my thoughts...so please respect that.
IMO Obama is a typical do nothing power broker. He ran for senate in Illinois basically un-opposed (a repeated theme for him). He promised change, but all the citizens of Illinois got was a man that planned his next gig. He is also linked to the most corrupt set of scandals in the nation not to mention the backing of the chicago mob (oh excuse me the democratic party). And look at the state of Illinois that he comes from. Highest in taxes (cook county and Chicago Highest in the nation). And most Corrupt (Last Governor in jail, and current Governor should be joining him soon). He hangs with antiSemite Louis Farakhan, William Ayers, the Mahajans and Nadmi Auchi, Ali Ata and numerous other controversial figures. One wonders whether Obama ever met and associated with normal people without their being felons, terroists or trouble makers. If Obama is elected be prepared to be taken over by illegal immigrants. Mexicans have their babies, Obama thinks it OK to kill ours.
In his years as state Senator and US Senator, what has Obama done to 'change' the way government is run? What has Obama done that has earned him this adulation, this acclaim? He is definitely going to change things, that's for sure. But do we want his radical change? The needs he discusses are real, but his plans are un workable and will never pass.
Yes very well said. While watching a two hour documentary about Obama and his rise to presidetial candidancy on CNN they brought up every single point you just mentioned!

I'm not going to argue with you, I said everyone is entitled to their opinions. One of my closest friends lives in Chicago and I can tell you that alot of people there are pretty unhappy with their 10.5% sales tax, highest in the country! There are other things in her post that are true, that one could research and prove true if they took the time to. She can post her links if she feels the urge!

Im not arguing either and its good you have sources stating how unhappy they are in Chicago. And that I can understand. I also understood her post but to say the things she did about immigrants and having mexican babies while we KILL ours is a little extreme dont you think?? That isnt an opinion. I mean really, 'Be prepared to be taken over by illegal immigrants'
Dont you think thats a little extreme to say?? Last time I checked immigration is a touchy subject with some people and to speak of it that way is rude. That isnt an opinion, thats an outrageous prediction

Extreme, but there are extremists for the other side of it as well.
I almost died of shock when I watched the RNC and they showed someone in the crowd holding a sign that said 'BUILD THE FENCE!' (and I am the CHILD of an immigrant!) There are legal ways to become a citizen in this country and I think that most would agree that its gotten out of hand here. Imagine trying to go ANYWHERE else and live there without paying taxes?!?! But for some reason its quite easy to do here!
ETA--I'm going to stop quoting because my posts are 12 miles long...
And also--I enjoy having intelligent conversations about this stuff...I never get mad at anyone elses thoughts/opinions and I actually like hearing them because I think it makes me see both sides of a situation, regardless of how I feel.

Well while were talking about the CNN special why don't we discuss some of McCain's truths... those who worked closest to him said he has a temper so ferious that he often makes quick decisions...he even said so himself. From his past and what I have researched his quick temper is not suited to the job as a President. I think his temperment could get this country in a whole more trouble and do not him to be the one with his finger on the button...as he admits he makes decisions in haste. After he lost the the 2000 ticket (as per CNN) he considered...seriously considered...switching over to the Democratic Party as insiders who worked with him said 'he'd do anything to win'. This is from the CNN special on McCain.

Exactly. And thats all Im trying to point out. Both sides have their share of extremists, negativity, dirt. But posts like that get under my skin because there were touchy subjects in there that could be offensive. I just feel like there are ways to give an opinion without turning it into some type of attack. Im also the child of an immigrant (shoot he's worried about getting deported all the time!) and I agree it is way too easy to get here. And there should be a way to regulate the borders but we shouldnt say BUILD A FENCE GET RID OF THE IMMIGRANTS. Theyre still people. This country just needs to have regulations on how they get here and what they do here. But thats a whole NOTHER story.
And I re read my post and I did get a little heated and want to apologize to you for my 'tude. I like to have discussions also and I normally dont jump like that but Im bitchy today. Didnt mean to take it out on you!

Re: Something needs to be done
hi ladies...just checked back in and saw what happened with my post. let me say that my words were not meant to be hurtful to anyone. i am not going to get into a huge debate because i would much rather talk about weddng stuff...but here goes.
my comment about mexican babies was not meant to insult mexicans...or any immigrants for that matter...Being that I am born of one. My father came here LEGALLY when he was 11 with his sister and parents and they worked there asses off to get where they are today. but this is not the point. the comment was made for a few reasons....all his plans..with healthcare, and welfare and blah blah....i was using the situation with Mexico as an example of how he wants the US people to support every single child...yet he is all about abortion...parial abortion...UGH! i cant discuss this anymore....its like texting..you cant come across right unless you hear my voice and see me.....i am a women and I am pro-life...(to an extent) of course i dont TOTALLY agree with everything that McCain/Palin say and stand for...there is no one in this world that i TOTALLY agree with on everything...thats what makes me me....but i do have a problem with abortions being used as birth control. Maybe if they werent so accessable people would be more responsible...
again...i apologize for my 'radical' post....but i was being honest. i didnt post a million backings for my info because this is not a debate and i dont have to...i am educated and research this stuff constantly. i know M/P have crap in their closets too...everybody does....I just prefer their closests....
again..i am sorry..you girls are my sanity sometimes and i thank you for that...have a great weekend!

The majority of us are children, grandchildren, great grandchildren etc...of immigrants...unless you can over on the Mayflower (kidding..and someone may have) immigration is a touchy subject for all I think.

JJ...the abortion subject is a tough one I agree...personally I am pro-life and have chosen to live responsibly and have not been faced with that awful decision...I am pro-choice for others bc I truly feel a woman should have a choice...every situation is differnt etc...I am NOT for partial abortion I think there should be more constraints
That being said..IMO the Republican party will never overturn Roe Vs. Wade because it is such a huge platform for them...it garners to many votes when all else fails bc it is so emotional for people (rightfully so)....if they would have they have had ample oppurtunity to in the past.

JJC!! Its cool! People get passionate about their beliefs and I respect that. Im also PRO-LIFE believe it or not. As passionate as I am about allowing women to have a choice, I dont believe in abortion. I know it sounds hypocritical but just because Im against it doesnt mean I dont think women shouldnt have a choice. I think partial abortion is absolutely despicable. But I dont think Obama is thinking partial abortion is the cool thing to do and getting abortions is awesome. He's just not interested in overturning Roe V. Wade and believes women should have a choice with what to do with their bodies. And thats my stand.
I think we kept this pretty peaceful though! Even though I did get a little Cunty
