something old, new, borrowed, blue?

Does anyone know the significance of this custom and where it came from? And if so, do jewish brides adopt this custom as well? I'm really just trying to figure out whether i need a blue garter?

I'm not sure exactly where this tradition originated from but there are a lot of other ways to incorporate your 'something blue.' My dress is so sheer I decided against wearing a blue garter. I 'borrowed' this idea from another bride (Thanks BCTM33! ): I'm hot-glueing small blue swarovski crystals on the bottom of my shoes in the shape of hearts with our wedding date on one, and our initials on the other.

I wore blue underwear!! I am not sure where the tradition started or what it means, but I didn't want to break tradition and everyone told me I had to do it!!

As far as I know, Jewish brides do follow that tradition, though I'm not sure where/how it orriginated. I'm wearing a necklace borrowed from my mom (it was my grandmothers), my 'blue' is a saphire bracelet from my aunt, and my dress and wedding band will be my new. I don't have anything for old yet, but I'll come up with something.

I'm Jewish and doing it. My mother glued a little blue bow to my garter for my something blue. Everything else is taken care of.

I'm going to paint my toenails baby blue! A friend did this for her wedding, and her feet were so cute! Expecially if your shoes are strappy...
