I wanted to do something special for my great-grandma at the ceremony but need ideas. She is 94 (and in great health) and I am very close to her-she pretty much raised me when my mom had cancer. Anyway, I was thinking of something like presenting a rose to her at some point---any ideas?

Re: something special
I'm thinking of having someone sing to my mom, probably Wind beneath my Wings. I'd do it myself but I can't sing. I think that would be a nice way to recognize your great grandma. You could give her the rose at the end of the song.

Hi!! Are you having a catholic ceremony?? how about you present her with a bouquet during the ceremony or perhaps write a beautiful poem in you program dedicating it to her?
I was very close with my great grandmother and she past away about 4 years ago.. not only will I be incorporating her favorite flower into my bouquet, but I will be dedicating the ceremony to her (along with FH's deceased grandparents) and will including a poem in my program from me to her..

Re: something special
Wow! You are very lucky to have your grandmas ... much less great-grandma's. both of mine have past & these days I'm missing them very much!! Although, We're getting married in my grandmother's church (dad's side) & my FH put my nana's center stone into my ring (mom's side!) ... so they'll be w/me on my WD!
Your post was so sweet ... whatever you do, It'll be wonderful ... just make sure that you alert your photog. so there can be lots of pics!!!!
Good luck ... let us know how it goes

Re: something special
instead of the candle lighting, we did an 'offering to the blessed mother' - we had photos of our deceased grandmothers placed at the alter of Mary, and then walked over and placed roses there. Then we went to our living grandmothers and gave them a rose. Everyone loved the idea, and I will never forget the look on my grandmothers face when we gave her a rose. I would suggest it!

Re: something special
If she will be at the reception you could present her with your boo'k instead of tossing it.
I am having mine created in 2 halfs so I can give half to each mom.

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone! Marcellabella--if I can ask, what type of poem are you using i your program? That seems like a really sweet idea along w/ a flower.
