Song for Mom

Song for Mom

Hi ladies,

Besides having a memorial candle for my mom I wanted to have a song played for her. The song that I really like is 'To Where you Are' by Josh Groban. Here are the lyrics:

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Anyway my question is I don't think I want the DJ to dedicate or say anything to get anyone sad so I thought maybe they could just say that this song has special meaning to the bride. What do you think? Is there anything else I could do instead?

So sorry your mom won't be with you on your wedding day. My dad will not be with me. In addition to having a candle and song played in his memory, we are also going to have a flower that stands for rememberence on the alter. There is a site that has the meanings of all flowers that gave me the idea. I love the Josh song. It is beautiful and so appropriate.

My father passed away when I was a little girl. We are having a framed poem on display at the ceremony. We are also playing some songs that he liked, but we decided not to have the DJ announce the song or put a picture of him up cause I thought it would be too sad. I also asked my gpa about a pic and a song and he said it would upset him too much

That is a beautiful song - when my grandma died - I took great comfort in that song. So sorry for your loss, I think it would be very touching to have that played.

I have chills running up and down my legs. That is a beautiful song. So sorry for your loss and may all of you who also lost someone be comforted in knowing that they are there with you. They got the best seat in the house.

So sorry for your loss. This song is amazing. My FH's mom actually passed away a couple of months ago, we thought she was going to make it. I would love to use this song. Do you mind?

I lost my mom as well, so I can totally relate.. .. I also really like this song by Faith Hill...

'There You'll Be'

When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind
I'll be glad 'cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me

[Chorus:]
In my dreams
I'll always see your soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be

Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me

[Repeat chorus]

'Cause I always saw in you
My light, my strength
And I want to thank you
Now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always

[Repeat chorus]

Of course you can use it. That is what we are here for to share ideas. I am sorry for your loss. My mom has been gone for 17 years. I don't know what I would do if she passed within months of the wedding.
