they are both beautiful...I personally like Canon better...b/c I tend to like the classics a bit more..

What are they for?? I love Ave Maria, we are using that when we light the memorial candle at our ceremony for my brother. But if its for the bridal party to walk in to than I like Canon in D better.

Definitely Pachobel's cannon. It is a very classic and beautiful wedding song.

Usually the bridal party walks down to canon in d. it is beautiful. maybe you can find a sound byte of it on the internet. then the bride usually walks down to the wedding march. that is the traditional song. as for ave maria, wow, it is so beautiful, but there are several people who did it. if you can find the version by gounod, you will fall in love with it. classical cds are usually really cheap at tower records, if you wanted to purchase it. check a cd specifically for weddings and you should find both!

I wanted a soloist to perform Ave MAria for my entrance. I like Canon in D too but thought it would be expensive to duplicate.
I also Jesu joy of man's desiring as well.

I lvoe cannon in D...
Ave maria reminds me of funerals, unfortunately.....but it is a great song.
I also like Vivaldi's four seasons....Spring & Winter
I love Bach Air ona G String.... very moving piece.

Canon in D is pretty, but by now it makes me cringe!! It's used so often.
We chose Bach's Violin concerto in G minor for bridal party entrance.
