I'm not picking songs for dinner music or cocktail hour music...I'm just telling them jazz for cocktail, and slow r&b for dinner, and they can take it from there.

Re: SONG question
I can't really give you an exact number but I just made a list of typical songs I'd want during dinner...Sinatra, Dean Martin, Al Martino, Louis Prima, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban....just to give my DJ an idea. I have no clue how many songs would be needed (like if you're doing an ipod or something) so I'm just leaving it up to the DJ.
With slow songs, I'm just listing all of our favorites and we'll see how many that is. I'd probably like to have more than the average 2 slow songs (it always seems like there's only 2 or 3 at most at weddings) because I know some of our guests will dance to the slow songs but probably not the dance music. I'd like to have at least 4, but that's just me.

Re: SONG question
We didn't pick the songs for dinner time, we just gave them the names of artists we would like to hear during that time - Dave Matthews, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey

Re: SONG question
I gave the DJ about 7 songs, but I think he will need about 13 all together to play during the lull of food time...13 songs = 39 minutes ish...
