I'm having a friend sing at the reception... and I can't think of what song.
I don't wnat anything too cheesy or cliche (as in overly common and abused), something fresh, meaningful, and not too rangy (don't want to hear her voice crack ).
Any suggestions?
(I wish Madaonna had a suitable song!)

Re: SONG to SING?
I always think 'At Last' by Etta James sounds great when someone performs it live. Its not too high, and its not cheesy...just sounds very soulful and pretty..if she has a strong voice i think that would be a great choice :)
If she doesn't have that strong of a voice, i am thinking there are a few really pretty bette midler songs (love songs, friendship songs, jazzy ones..etc). 'The Rose' is a personal favorite song of mine, i think its beautiful..
Good luck!

How about 'I hope You Dance' by Martina McBride..pretty song, a little sappy and not too rangy.

I Hope You Dance is by LeAnn Womack, actually.
If you like Martina, I sang 'Valentine' to my husband at our wedding.
I also sang 'You're still the One' by Shania Twain at my friend's wedding.

Are you planning to dance to it? Is she an alto or soprano?

yeah, i'm planning to dance to it. and i don't know if she's alto or soprano? what's the difference? she CAN sing really well - but i wouldn't trust her hitting the ultra high notes - which she is capable of, but i don't wanna test it.
she's best with madonna type of songs... easy to sing songs i guess?

Re: SONG to SING?
Well how about 'Crazy For You'? It's slow, it's Madonna and pretty simple. No real high suckers! Speaking of crazy...there's Crazy by Patsy Cline if you like that type of stuff.

Sorry I am an idiot, I should have read the post more throughly, I thought it was for the ceremony.
There are a few songs by Sarah Vaughn that I love, and Ella Fitzgerald. Those tyoe of songs are really great for female voices of any range & not too played.
Dream a little dream Someone to watch over me ..there are more..I'll post them later

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll admit that I've never heard of a couple of these songs.. but, I will definitely give each a 'hear'.
